January 2035 from Prey!
They’re a reprogrammed Sybil 495 Science-class Operator, a model of the multipurpose robot TranStar Operator specialized for data analysis and live readings.
January’s gender is determined by what gender the player selects for their character, Morgan Yu. If you pick male, this technically makes January trans as Science Operators have feminine programming but January will be male. If I had a nickel for every trans robot in Prey I’d have three nickels.. which isn’t a lot but it’s awesome that it happened thrice!
I’ve already posted them on Twitter, but wanted to tune it up a bit and repost them here.
Their role in the story is to guide Morgan through Talos I and put a stop to the alien breach.. whatever the cost.
