She carves another notch into her spear as the sunrise spans the landscape. It was her way of keeping track of time, although useless because she didn't feel like going through and recounting every notch. Then another part of her wondered why she cared how long she had been on this island at all.
Halfway through the morning she began to notice things. Her skin felt flushed and warm, beads of sweat dripped down her face. Something was wrong, she felt much too warm despite being away from her campfire. She puts up a hand to shield form the sun as she looks up at the sky, hardly any clouds in sight. "The season has changed again..."
Her feet were busy crunching the brittle grassland below on her journey back to camp, when she heard scurrying behind her. She turns around sharply, scanning the area. Her eyes grow wide at the sight of fuzzy brown ears and twisted horns.
"The rabbits are back... The rabbits are back!"
She lets out a shriek, not so much a battlecry as a sound of pure exultation. She throws her freshly sharpened spear at the small creature, missing it by a few inches. It darts straight back for the hole and she lets out a very unladylike string of curses. Picking up the spear again she pauses and listens for the sounds of tiny feet. She hears a crunch in the distance and turns again, spear poised to strike. "I've got you now you stupid little-!"
