and that's the end of the road
well. we did it. posting for round one of the sciles reversebang has wrapped. we had 59 works in the collection for a total of 581,028 new words of sciles fic. that's over half a million words of new skittles fic. half a million. it's incredible. you guys are incredible. i cried a little bit. i'm not kidding.
i feel like i've said it a thousand times already but i'm blown away by the support everyone has shown for this bang. whether you or you wrote a 30k fic, or you drew five extra art pieces, or you just squeaked by the word count. you did something. you created something for a ship that's grown so much in the past year and a half since i became a part of fandom.
if you asked me a year ago, with my first vague forays into a woefully lacking skittles tag, that over one hundred people would be creating such work i probably would have laughed. hard. even in october when i was making introductory posts asking for interest, i thought the numbers i set was too high. i underestimated you, skittles fandom. and you have delivered.
i thought i would have twenty people participating, and half of them being friends that i strong-armed into it. i've been overwhelmed in the best way.
there are a huge round of thank yous that i'm going to try to get through. thanks, first and foremost to molly, my faithful co-mod, who's sent out emails and handled check-ins. she is part of the reason i haven't torn my hair out or given up completely.
to cece and kris, because they encouraged me when this project was still in its infancy. you should thank them for pushing me to do this in the first place.
to all my friends who've prodded and supported this project on twitter and on skype. you've heard me rehash the same four phrases over and over and deserve my thanks
to the authors and artists and betas, there wouldn't be this challenge without you.
to the pinch hitters, who came in at the end and wrote fics under time crunches or difficult prompts, and flourished under pressure to make sure as many prompts had fic as possible.
to anyone who's supported or promo'd or convinced their friends to participate. to the people who decided this was going to be their first fic challenge, or their first fic over 5k, or their first fic at all. to the people who usually write/draw for other pairings but decided to try skittles for this bang. my many thanks
if you haven't already you should answer this survey about the bang, your experience, and what could be done better for round two
i don't know if i've properly expressed my gratitude for everyone making this challenge happen. i'm honored to be able to say i facilitated something so positive in fandom, even from a distance
