Finally getting to see him with her own eyes really put the stories she heard into perspective. First, he was likely the palest person she had ever seen, as if the sun had never touched his skin. The scar on the right side of his face also lined up with the descriptions she had heard. Like a mirror that had been punched. Did it even look like a piece was missing? Then there was the eyes, pure white. Like he was blind, and yet he seemed to be looking directly at her.
His smile, though, somehow Niko smiling at her just made her feel so calm and welcomed.
“Niko,” Eloise repeated back to him with a smile as she followed him in and through the house. Her eyes settled on the photos, looking over each and all the smiles they all had. He definitely seemed like the family type, which was endearing. How lonely it must be, then, if his kids are all so grown. ...And curious, because Niko definitely doesn’t look old enough to have adult children like that.
“Just water is fine, thank you,” she walked over to the kitchen table, setting her bag down as she took out her notepad and a pen before settling down in the chair, “Sorry, it must be weird to have a journalist trying to find you, but... I’ve heard a lot of different stories about you and your life and figured - well, I should just go to the source. Call it my own curiosity, but I just had to meet you, so - you know, thanks for agreeing to meet me, too.”
