Requested by @elaera23 Here is the conclusion to ‘Broken Promises’ ... angsty fluff maybe...
It’s been a couple of days since Scorpio and you have talked. A couple of days since the fight that left you wondering if you had a relationship of any kind left. If Scorpio wasn’t willing to put forth effort to fix the problem between the two of you then neither were you. The day after the fight you found out you were in charge of the next big event at the planetarium. It became easier to forget about the blowout you and Scorpio had.
But as the days passed you began to regret blowing up at Scorpio, screaming at him. You had said a lot of hateful things. And if it was the King that caused this problem in the first place..you didn’t even want to go there. That was the day that you allowed yourself to fully breakdown and think about everything that had happened that night. The day you allowed yourself to mourn the loss of a relationship you now weren’t sure was going to be salvaged. It was the only time you let yourself give into the grief, because the next thing you knew you were throwing yourself head first into preparing for your next event, even more immersed than before.
You knew you were worrying the other gods, you’d have to be blind not to know. They let you go though, content on letting it run its course before you were back to normal. That led you to where you were now, three and a half weeks later, lonelier than you had felt in a long time, you were at the planetarium about to begin your presentation. A few minutes later you were making sure everything was all set. You noticed Dui lean over and whisper something to Ichthys, pointing out somewhere into the audience as he did so. Whatever Dui said to him caused concerned looks to appear on both of their faces. “-tell her?” You overheard Ichthys say. You were about to ask what was going on when they returned to their positions, acting just the same as they had before, only with an underlying look of tension. Ignoring them, you turned back to your podium and took a deep breath.
An hour later your presentation was already done, time flying by. “Thank you everyone, hope you enjoyed the show. Have a great night!” You said into the mic, causing your guests to erupt into applause. As the crowd filed out of the room you struck up a chat with Tauxolouve about what you were planning on doing afterward. You saw Dui and Ichthys lean into each other and start whispering again, the worried looks from before coming back. You were curious as to why they were acting so secretive all of a sudden and adjusted your position to be closer to them, allowing you to eavesdrop on their conversation.
“Should we tell her he’s here? We don’t even know if she wants to see him,” you heard Dui say, sounding unsure. “Just let her know, man. We should at least tell her so that she has a choice, you know,” Ichthys replied. What the hell were they talking about? You turned around to start interrogating them when you heard a low “oh shit” and froze.
Scorpio was trying to make his way through the crowd. “Looks like we don’t have to tell her after all,” Dui said, noticing you staring at Scorpio. He ran his hands through his hair before moving to your side. “You don’t have to talk to him, _____,” he told you, placing his hands just above your elbows, “We can get you out of here before he even knows you’re gone.” You smiled up at him, slowly shaking your head. “Thanks for the offer, but,” you took a deep breath before slowly releasing it, “you and I both know this is something I have to do.” He nodded his head in understanding, Ichthys walking over to stop by your side and grab your hand. “Knock ‘em dead tiger,” he smiled at you, giving your hand a small squeeze before letting it drop.
You were almost standing in front of Scorpio when he looked over and saw you. He went stiff, staring at you with a look of apprehension in his eyes. You continued past Scorpio, walking outside of the planetarium knowing that he would follow. Hearing footsteps behind you, you knew you were correct in your assumption. Once you were far enough away that you couldn’t hear the other guests inside, you turned to face him. Really looking at him for the first time since your fight, you drank him in. He looked tired, though you weren’t sure if that was because of his work as a punishments god or because of the mutual silence from the both of you for the past three weeks. For a few moments, the two of you just stood there, taking the other one in. It quickly became apparent that he had missed you just as much as missed him.
“Hey,” he said softly, still looking at you with that slight apprehension. His hands were stuffed into his pockets, feet slightly shuffling against the concrete sidewalk. “Hey,” you whispered back. It was like the two of you were in a different reality, separated from everything else. Like if either of you even spoke a bit too loudly you would be transported back, the safety and calmness disappearing. You watched as he inhaled deeply before starting to talk.
“I’m such a fucking idiot, ____,” he said to you, the apprehension in his eyes fading into a pleading look. “This is all my fault, I shouldn’t have fought with you like that. I’m sorry I missed your first event- fuck I’ve felt like such a dick ever since then. I can’t believe I put you through that,” he rambled on, “I don’t expect you to forgive me, not after some of the shit I said, I just,” his eyes were darting everywhere, a wildly frantic sort of expression settling over his face, “I just need you to know how sorry I am.”
His rant was making your heart ache. Not even a week after the fight all of your rage turned into numbing sorrow and misery and for him to be here right now telling you how sorry he was, how he didn’t even think you should forgive him, made you want to break down into tears. You couldn’t though, you wouldn’t let him see just how much this all affected you.
“Why are you here, Scorpio?” You questioned. It was clear as day that the question took him by surprise. He hesitated, looking down at his feet. “That night,” he began, still not bringing his gaze back up to you, “I promised you I wouldn’t miss your next event. I didn’t care about seeing or talking to you, hell I just needed to be here for you. Even if you didn’t realize it.” He finally looked up to watch your reaction and seeing your confused expression he continued talking. “I should have told that damn trickster to fuck off that night, but I promised you I’d be there for you. I’ll always keep that promise, it doesn’t matter if you know or not, if we’re fighting or if we’re not talking. I-“ he stopped himself, tearing his gaze from you. He inhaled sharply before he peered back at you, his head ducked down slightly. “I meant what I said. I wasn’t lying when I said I love you. I love you and knowing that it’s my fault all of this is even happenin’ in the first place-“ you stopped him from finishing his sentence as you started speaking yourself.
“Scorpio, it wasn’t just your fault. We both got so out of hand,” you breathed out a tiny laugh while reaching your hands up to rub your neck, “neither of us was completely at fault. It wouldn’t have gotten so out of control if I hadn’t fired right back at you.” “God, I’ve missed you,” he whispered to you, “I just want to go back to how we were before, but I don’t even know if that’s something you’re willin’ to do. Hell, I wouldn’t blame ya if you told me to get lost and never come around you again.” He frowned. “If you really think that I would do that then you’re an even bigger dumbass than I thought,” you told him, a small smile playing on your lips. “I’ve missed you too, Scorpio, more than I think you realize.” He began grinning widely, hope starting to blossom in his chest that maybe this could work again.
You quickly closed the distance between the two of you, your hands shooting up to cup his cheeks. Noticing his confused expression, you sped on. “Scorpio, if there’s one thing I’ve figured out during this whole shit fest, it’s that I’m so in love with you,” you rushed out. You continued studying his face as he began to blush.
“You still love me?” He questioned you, following your every move as you began giggling, nodding your head. He grabbed you close to him and picked you up, spinning you around as he crashed his lips to yours. The two of you smiled into the kiss, your hands remaining on his face. He slowly set you down, his hands never straying from your body, whether it be your waist or your hips or your face. It took a long while for the two of you to pull away from each other, content to continue kissing each other on the deserted sidewalk.
Scorpio pulled away first, brushing your hair away from where it fell into your face before leaning in to press his mouth next to your ear.“I guess something good came out of that fight after all,” he remarked, pulling away and laying a kiss on your forehead. You sighed in pleasure before gazing up at him. “This doesn’t mean you’re allowed to miss any more of my events and then hope it ends well,” you stated, eyeing him as he smirked. “Don’t worry,” Scorpio said shaking his head, “I’m not missing anything else.”
As Scorpio continued holding you in his arms, you thought to yourself. Life really does have a weird way of working things out, but you were done complaining. After all, what exactly do you have to complain about anymore?
