Achey Back Tips and Tricks
I have a mild scoliosis that I manage with daily yoga, but it can still flare every once in a while. These are a few tips and tricks I use when my back aches:
Creams: There are a lot of different kinds of creams out there that work for temporary relief. I'm currently using EFAC cream that I got as a chiropractic assistant.
Foam Roller: I bought one of these for $10 and I'm so glad I did, I foam roll my upper back, glutes and hip flexors regularly. Try this video for tips on how to foam roll.
Tea: I sip on peppermint, ginger and fennel tea when my back hurts or digestions is wacky. If anything it helps me relax.
Yoga: I do Vinyasa Yoga to warm up my spine, a warm up and some simple sun salutations do the trick most days, other days I need more twists so I do something similar to the Detox & Digestion routine. I usually end my practices with propped restorative poses. On my achiest days, I'll only do restorative yoga. Here a restorative routine I found that I really enjoy. If you don't have a bolster, consider grabbing one off amazon or in the meantime roll a blanket up tight and tie it with a strap.
Espom Salt Baths: This is my go to when I just can't handle the ache. Fill a tub with warm water and mix in a handful or 2 of these salts. Lay in the bath for at least 20 minutes, after you're done get out, put on some comfies and lay in bed for a nice sleep. This zaps away my ache at least for a couple of hours. I found these at Target, Walgreens, Costco, and online.
