ok so crazy cool thing: walking home from the supermarket, absolutely dreading going home to all those fucking dishes (where did they come from? i washed everything THE DAY AFTER THE PARTY- EVERYTHING) when the sky decides it wants to give the ground a light shower

which was totally not cool but whatever i was 1/3 of the way home whatcha gonna do

and... maybe like 5 minutes later a car suddenly pulls over to the other side of the road and the driver RUNS ACROSS THE STREET and pushes an umbrella into my hands all like “here take this!! don’t worry i have 2 more in the car!” (it was cool because we both were apparently part of the skintight black pants/black cami combo club so it was kind of like a fashion solidarity thing lololol) ok this is impossible to cut down atm and i’m stalling doing the rest of the dishes so i’m putting the best, longest part behind a cut

so ok i’m tromping along with this umbrella and kind of like wow how unexpected and awesome! and trying to fixate on that rather than on the dishes and everything and how i’m going to have to do like 4 loads of laundry and whether or not i’ll have enough laundry detergent when like not even 8 minutes later, just as i come to maria’s house-  maria, btw, is this 50-something polish lady who i see every now and again and whose acquaintance i made at a tag sale she was having (i stopped because i saw some vases i thought my mom would like & she ended up giving me a cute poppy-patterned coverlet, a cute purse her daughter was getting rid of, a few cute pairs of shoes-- like whaaat??!)-  she comes running out in her pj’s and pink flipflops, waving me down, and goes “I WAS JUST HOPING I’D SEE YOU COME INSIDE COME HERE COME INSIDE”  so like i do? because that’s so bizarre, i don’t think we’ve seen each other since that tag sale the spring before & p much assumed she’d forgotten about me, and i’m so totally intrigued by how enthusiastic and excited she is and while she’s practically dragging me in, she’s going “oh i’m so happy i saw you- i was just thinking of you!” and “my daughter is pregnant, she’s dumped all her old clothing at my house, she’s saying ‘mom, have a tag sale!’ but i’m too lazy, there’s too much!” and (omg) she goes “and i was thinking: i hope i see that little little girl! because your figure is perfect, you’re so small and have such good taste, like my daughter! i looked out my window and there you were! here, do you want clothes? here, sit down, come here, look through these- there’s so much here” etc etc 

so i’m like hey sure that’s so weirdfunnycool i’ll look through, maybe take a few things. i’m only got maybe 2.75 songs’ worth of distance left between here and the house. she puts like three huge bags in front of me and it’s all like fantastic brands and omg there were the cutest puma sneakers i love puma sneakers!!! (when i looked inside to check the size, i saw some care instructions printed in german- “oh,” she goes, “she must have gotten those while we were in germany”) i took home a lot more than i expected (but some stuff i thought churro might be interested in); the rain had just stopped, too, which was awesome still tho: cute shoes, GOOD AND NICE WINTER CLOTHING which is important because i got rid of most of that in cali and this is the best part a pair of what we used to admiringly, longingly call ‘polish girl pants’ back in high school (wide-leg jeans cut in a way that my friends & i rarely found in stores but for some reason almost all the really polish girls in school seemed to have at least 1 pair of)
