How can you read scope numbers?
When you are buying a scope for your rifle. Then, first of all, ensure that there are numbers on the label on the side of the scope. Never get a scope that does not bear any of the numbers on them. Only through numbers can you choose the right scope for your rifle.
When you see the scope you will see different numbers on scope; here are some most common numbers and the meaning of these numbers.
Magnification numbers
Magnification power means that how much larger an object you can see with the use of that scope. If you know the magnification number is 4, the object you will see with the scope will be four times greater than the real size.
If two magnification numbers, such as 4-8, mean the smaller magnification is four times while you can increase the magnification up to 8 times with that scope.
Size of the Objective lens
You will see the capital letter on the scope, such as X, 4-8X50. The number written after the X is the size of the objective lens; its unit is a millimeter. In the above example, the size is 50 mm for the objective lens. The larger the objective lens's size, the more precise the image you can see through that scope. Magnification only improves when you will see the image clearer.
Size of Lens Tube
You may not find the tube size number on the scope most of the time, but you can read that number from the box. The standard sizes of the tubes are one and 30mm. If you choose a 30mm lens, it is larger than one inch and will give you a clear image. A larger lens size will provide a more clear view.
Illuminated scopes
Illuminated scopes also contain colors; the most common using color is red and then green. Please choose the red illumination; it will make you able to see the target clearer at night. But green is also better to use.
