Heyooooo, happy Scorch Day! 🎉 I hadn't planned this day so I didn't prepare anything, but I couldn't let this day pass by without dropping something Scorch-y, could I? So I sat down and created this wallpaper kinda thing. It's A4-format so probably not the right wallpaper formatting, but feel free to use anyway (:

Delta Squad Week Day 2, Alternative Prompt: "Babie Wookiees?"

What Boss hears:

Advisor: "You'll have to make your way through the nursery facilities of the Citadel." Scorch: "Oh - is that where they keep the Baby Wookiees?" Advisor: "Negative. Baby wroshyr trees. This is the Wookiees' garden."

A few moments later…

Scorch: "Well, the garden's got a pest problem: Trandoshans." Sev: "You would prefer baby Wookiees?" Scorch: "Not really. Too cute." What Scorch pictures in front of his mind's eye:

This is not what I think baby wookies actually look like, but what I think Scorch, who has probably never seen a real-life civilian baby, might imagine them like. Hence, the bow, the pacifier, and the exaggerated, super-large eyes.

Done in Krita. I don't have a tablet, only a mouse, so please excuse that some lines are not as clean as they could be.

Okay this is gonna be a bit long. I've been hoping for someone to ask me this 'cause I'm a great storyteller 😎😎

RIGHT. SO. I'm gonna answer that last one first. The worst one? It's Sev. That mir'sheb can't flirt for the life of him BECAUSE YOU KNOW WHAT. He's soooooooo terrible at it, even Fixer is doing MUCH better than him (and me, that chakaar is a magnet for girls and boys and neither).

We were just hanging out in our haunt (not 79's, can you imagine the amount of paparazzi if we go there we would be squished) and there was this real pretty Mirialan patron about our age. We pushed him, smacked him in the back and bid him good kriffing luck (I swear I could remember my cheeks hurting so much bcs I knew it was going to be hilarious). Could see Sev was sweating but we were sitting close enough to hear what he said.

There were greetings, the hello's and stuff and why they were there. Good start. Until Sev asked "what's your body count?" and honestly it was kinda smooth that she smiled and easily answered "this week? just 6" mind you it was Benduday and THEN SEV THAT BUGKILLER PSYCHOTIC BLOODTHIRSTY DI'KUT SAID "mine's about 2,400" and poor POOR girl was dumbstruck 😭😭😭😭

Yeah okay lads and lass and neither it's. It's why context is important. In the end Boss dragged him out and Fixer took his place so in a not so much of a plot twist Fixer came back to the barracks next morning just in time before PT with marks on his chest. Eugh.

Okay sorry this got too long but you asked 😀🫵🏾 my go-to pickup line is:

Happy Scorch Day! 💛 For @deltasquadweek | Prompt Day 2: "Baby Wookiees?"

“Oh lookie! Playing us again, I see!”

With my shots flying all over the place since I flinched, I hit the pause button with the force of an impatient businessman waiting on the elevator and ripped my headphones off. “Hello?! Knock first!”

Scorch munched loudly. I looked at the package in his grasp. Great. Stealing my wheat biscuits again, I see. “Your door's open,” he gestured.

I looked at him in disbelief. “Then tap my shoulder?”

He did.

“Di'kut,” I grumbled. The shabuir laughed, nudging me to go on and hit the Resume Game. Well, great. Good luck to me, I guess. I'd rather not have someone hovering behind my shoulder watching me doing stuff and messing up, thank you very much.

I carried on. Me playing as Boss wasn't even close as a Marine with a game console. Not even scratching the surface. I had terrible control on aiming—my grip on the mouse was eh and my table surface wasn't that supportive—and I still fumbled between keys. I got nervous switching between grenades because if I accidentally killed the squad with sonic det that bumped against a kriffing crate and I forgot to Quick Save, it was just karking over.

Sniping stuff had always been my favorite, although switching between the 10x and 20x scopes and going back to the default rifle was annoying. Always brought me to step back and away from the squad to gain distance from hostiles. Then sometimes I forgot to command a defend position, the squad wandered forward, everybody got killed, Advisor shouting in my ears that he read low vitals on my squad that triggered me to actually shout I KNOW out loud, and in the end it involved me hitting Restart Level.

So uh, not a pro. Decent. And took a lot of time. Still fun, though.

“Your play is osik.”

“Wow, thanks for saying that out loud Scorch.” I glared at him. “I don't game, FYI. Much less on PC. And I quit competitive multiplayer years ago.”

He raised his eyebrows, seemingly bemused. “Yeah? Why?”

“I'm a lame gal that can't take it,” I shrugged, “I get bored easily.”

“Boo, big L.”

I smacked his arm. He didn't even dodge.

“Bored easily huh?” Scorch mused, popping another biscuit into his mouth, “And yet this is your second replay.”

I paused the game and turned to give him my full attention. “Problem, man?”

“Yeah, with your aim.”

I groaned. “FPS isn't my thing!”

“You play this, which is apparently and undeniably FPS.”

“Because I was intrigued and I love you guys! Do notice my undying loyalty here! It's strong!”

Scorch nodded, impressed.

“And I'm not gonna be shy about that.”

“Manda, chillax, woman. I hear you,” he rolled his eyes, smiling a stupid smile and patting my hair.

…I'm not gonna be shy either that the gesture is my weakness, unfortunately.

“The garden has a pest problem,” in–game Scorch said as the squad made their way through, “Trandoshans.”

“Would you prefer baby Wookiees?” in-game Sev rumbled.

In-game Scorch paused. “Uh, not really. Too cute.”

I snickered. These two, ugh. I hit the pause button again and grinned at Scorch beside me, who had taken the liberty to grab an incorporeal chair and took a seat. “You have a thing with baby Wookiees or something?”

He gave me a baffled look. “What even is that accusing tone? They're cute!”

“Uh huh,” I smiled, “And I'm sure you know everybody's considered you cute as well with that personality, you ball of sunshine.”

Scorch beamed, pearly whites and all, scrambling to stand and bow. “Thank you, thank you. I love my fans as well.” He retook his seat. “But I have to ask you not to talk about my gett’se, though.”

“I wasn't even talking about your balls, you big goof.”

All I earned was a snicker and a nudge. I couldn't help but smile and returned the elbow as well before continuing on playing. 

And it just had to be the Kashyyyk mission. The most dreaded of them all. Say what you want about Geonosis and Assault Ship…

“God, I hate Kashyyyk so much.”

Scorch hums, intently watching me pie-ing around a corner with the default sidearm. “We share the same sentiment, ad’ika.”

I clicked four times to down a B1. “I'm older than you, bub.” A swipe across the keyboard, I switched to the Trando submachine gun I acquired some time earlier and carried on. “I prefer Geonosis, actually. I like Geonosis.”

Scorch looked mortified. “Nobody ever said that.”

“The mission in the game, Scorch! The frickin’ game!”

“It's got the same vibes to it!” he argued, “The turrets, the SBD’s. I can't even look at canyons and sand the same way again! And don't even start with those stanging bugs with the elite beam!”

“God.” I grimaced as I paused the game—I'm really having this conversation. “I hate those guys.”

Scorch made an ah! noise. “See? Another agreement!”

I slapped my palm on his when he offered but only went through it. Right. Scorch snorted. A heavy sigh escaped me eventually.

“We're too hilarious to argue. I don't even know how Fixer keeps up with you and Sev, and now with me as the new addition.”

“Oh he'll live,” Scorch grinned, “Don't worry. You're with us, fellow crackhead. You're okay.”

It was a simple statement agreed upon, or maybe his own opinion. Either way, it sent a wave of reassurance and caused me to smile quite genuinely. “Good to know.”

Okay first off it's not fair. Literally popped out of the tube and grew up with the other 3, my pod brothers, and you're asking me who's my favorite?! UNFAIR. We're everyone's favorite, we stick together (especially when Boss had difficulties zipping himself up in Narsh refresher some time ago). All of us is as solid as a chain ⛓️

As a famous holonovel writer (Sev loves her works stupid) once said: “Children of the same family, the same blood, with the same first associations and habits, have some means of enjoyment in their power, which no subsequent connections can supply.”

Delta Squad Week 2025, Day 2. Prompt: Scars

Scorch stood at the sink and stared into the mirror. His face had become the face of a stranger. It wasn’t that he had changed much visibly; he looked still mostly the same, but it was about how he felt. 

Everything had changed. Sev was gone. The Jedi were gone. The Republic was gone. Half of Omega Squad was gone. Everything had changed, and so had Scorch.

He studied his face, the permanent frown between his brows that hadn’t been there a year ago. This realisation made him frown even more. Other than that, it was the same old face that had always been his, the same old face he’d grown up surrounded by.

He raised his hand, touching what had set him apart from his brothers for years: the tight and knotted tissue of the burn scar covering much of the left half of his face. He traced it with his fingers, feeling the texture under his fingertips. He couldn’t feel the fingers on his face, though, as the skin covering the old wound was entirely numb.

Over the years of their training and throughout the war, they all had collected their fair share of scars, each one telling a story. 

He took the wet piece of cloth from the sink and started cleaning his face, eyes closed. In his memory, he could still feel the pain on his face he had felt when he had burned it. The memories were as clear as if it hadn’t been more than a couple of weeks since it happened. 

During an exercise in the infamous Death House on Kamino, he had pushed the detonator a fragment of a second too early, because he wanted to get his brothers out of the danger zone ASAP. It had damaged and blown off his helmet. Their training gear hadn’t been as good as the Katarn-class suits they were issued later. 

Yes, he remembered that day very well. The way Sev had abandoned his sniper position to drag him to relative safety. His brother had disobeyed Sergeant Vau’s orders to do so. You didn’t disobey Vau without consequence. Scorch hadn’t been the only one gaining a scar that day. His fingers twitched towards his right cheekbone.

Good old Sev. Today marked one year since Scorch had last seen him. Since that fateful mission on Kashyyyk. Since they had lost him.

They all bore scars. The worst ones were not worn on skin.

He swallowed. MIA, not KIA, he reminded himself. As long as he didn’t have concrete proof of his brother’s death, he considered Sev to be still alive.

The cloth hit the water in the sink with a soft splash. 

He took a deep breath, and his fingers curled around the handle of the razor. No, he refused to believe that Sev was dead. And one day, he would have to go looking for him, no matter what the Empire thought his place in the galaxy was supposed to be. 

But he couldn’t do that just yet. One didn’t just run off from Imperial service. But what he could do was to make a promise.

His fingers were shaking when he raised his hand to his face. The razor blade was cool and sharp, and he barely felt it when it dragged over his cheekbone, drawing blood, bringing the scar on his heart to show on his skin. And echoing his brother’s face, the brother he so much longed to see.

He lowered the knife, staring into his own eyes. The wound was burning. With one hand, he covered his burn scar. His eyes wandered to the fresh cut, mirroring the one that Sev had sustained after rescuing him.

“I am going to find you, ner vod. I promise. I swear. Ni draar gar ven’digu.”
