From a young age, he knew love and affectionate in waves. His parents always made sure he knew that he was precious to them. Even so, growing up as the only child in the Malfoy Manor was a lonely experience. There was never anyone around that saw the world the way he did, so he found people that did. Their expansive library became his friend, showing him worlds and adventures he never could have dreamed of on his own. It was there that he found himself.

Going to Hogwarts threw him for a loop. He was suddenly surrounded by people his age, people who saw things from a different perspective. Some people treated him badly because of his family, some people treated him well because of his family, and some people didn’t care. It was a lot of confusing things going on he couldn’t figure out just yet, so he threw himself into his work and focused on his studies. To his luck, he wasn’t alone. Albus Potter was a kindred spirit, facing the same reaction from people as he did. Over this, they bonded and became fast friends.

Their friendship, and the others that it helped create, were what kept him going through all his school years. When he graduated, he felt like he might have found himself, settled into his personality and managed to find confidence. It still failed now and again, but Scorpius did his best. He ventured out in the world, trying to find his place.

He eventually found it again among books, reading romances and dreaming of one for himself, following the trail of non-magical killers and trying to solve the crimes for him, even learning about the moon’s rotation around the Earth. Here, in a muggle library, he found he had much more to learn. It was where he was meant to be and he got a job as a librarian soon after, spending most of the time that he didn’t spend with Albus among the books.

Teddy Lupin: Second cousins, he looks up to Teddy for guidance when he feels especially out of place.

Alan Chambers: Both big fans of books, they hit it off instantly and he sees Alan as a welcome companion any time.

Rose Granger-Weasley: He has a huge crush on her, despite her constantly turning him down.

Scorpius Malfoy | pure-blood | born 2005-2006 | THE RESISTANCE

The Malfoy name is not what it used to be and Scorpius knows that, but he doesn’t have to like it. He adores his family and can’t help but resent how the rest of the world sees them: as scum, traitors, cowards, or villains...or all four at once, even. He always wanted to change that, but figured out quickly that flying well or scoring high on tests wasn’t going to be enough. Maybe helping to save the world will do it, although he thinks the others are overstating the threat a bit -- but he’s okay with that, if it will help redeem their reputation more. What he’s not okay with is the fact that his family are all under the spell, too. This is the first time in his life that Scorpius has kept a secret from his parents for longer than a school term (some things being better discussed in person than via letters, is all) and he doesn’t like it. He’s had to get used to a lot of things he dislikes over the years, not being in a position to object most of the time, but deceit within his family is something else. In a world where nobody likes a Malfoy, at least they always had each other...until now. If he didn’t have Albus and Rose at least he’d turn his back on the whole idea and go home and pretend everything’s fine. Even with them, and his snooty cousin, he still feels bereft without the unconditional support of his dad and mum.
