oh,,, oh honey,,,, so sorry sweetie,,, scorpia sweetie you deserve the world and more catra’s to self-destructive for you i’m SORRY BABYYY
Analyzing Scorpia’s Adoration for Catra
One question that’s been brought up in discussion is why Scorpia chose Catra as the object of her infatuation over everyone else. As a superior Catra is often unappreciative, short-tempered, and shuns most of Scorpia’s attempts at relating, so why does Scorpia focus on her specifically? What is it about the feline that threw her so head over heels in love?
There’s a few key aspects to their relationship I noted:
Catra was one of the few people who expressed trust in Scorpia, not only accepting her, but displaying an unambiguous desire to have her on her team
Fighting with the intention of protecting someone comes to Scorpia far easier than fighting in order to build up an organization (even if that organization was the only group that offered her an identity in the first place)
Scorpia knows loneliness, and wants to make sure Catra doesn’t feel that same pain, no matter how much she pretends it doesn’t effect her
and finally...
Catra represents, in many ways, what Scorpia wishes she could be
I think Scorpia and Catra represent two sides of the same coin of dealing with loneliness and rejection.
For Scorpia, she centers her focus, goals, and desires around the first person/organization that offers her any form of acceptance, and spends all her energy on their wellbeing. She is utterly selfless in everything she does, her own goals being secondary to what others want from her.
Catra is the opposite, especially after Adora’s defection. When faced with rejection she emotionally detaches herself to the best of her ability. After all, if she doesn’t care then there’s no pain in it, so she builds walls and fixates on her own goals, hoping to find fulfillment in surpassing everyone around her.
However, Catra can’t emotionally detach herself completely, no matter how much she pretends otherwise. There will always be tiny part of her that craves admiration and acceptance; from her peers, from Adora, from Shadow Weaver, from everyone.
Similarly, while Catra can’t fully detach herself, Scorpia can’t fully center herself around others. As eager as she is to please she is still her own person with her own mind. Thus, there will always be a part of her that wishes she was more abrasive, more confident, more independent... more like Catra. Because from an outward glance, Catra’s callous nature looks like strength in the face of adversity. Scorpia’s even going so far as to act out within The Horde to appease Catra, because in a small sense she’s living vicariously... following close behind someone who does what she wants regardless of what others think while simultaneously understanding loneliness.
And after being adrift for so long, Scorpia knows better than anyone that you need least one person who will love and accept you no matter what, and she wants to be that for Catra as badly as she wants Catra to be that for her in return.
adora: h
catra: you left me behind like i was nothing, and you betrayed me. how could you do this? i thought we were friends but apparently not. if i get a glowy sword too, transforms me into a eight foot tall warrior, would i suddenly be welcomed back into your club? i think not. i wanted you to come back but like what're promises for.
I just like appreciating Catra
Modern Catra 👌✨
My thoughts on She-ra Season 3
First let me say. I no longer possess any emotions besides pain. Just. Pain.
Living hell where do I start....ok ok ok.
1. Shadow weaver. Her redemption was SHIT. She’s a horrible person and an abuser. I don’t think she should be forgiven. She’s a big part of the reason for Catra’s actions. The kids there were abuse victims and she used manipulation and fear on them their entire lives. She should rot in that damn spare room.
2. Hordak. God. I’ll admit his little friendship with Entrapta was absolutely precious. I feel so bad for Entrapta because to the very end she thought her friends abandoned her. But things should be better now. I hope she’ll be happy. Hordak can go yeet himself into another universe.
3. Catra. Oh my god. I honestly thought she and Adora would be able to work things out but...I think she’s beyond saving or forgiving... everything that happened to her is absolutely horrible but I think we gotta stop excusing her actions at one point. She TRIED TO DESTROY REALITY! WHAT THE FUCK! I loved her so much as a character and it pains me to see her like this. I really thought she’d come around and realize what she’s doing. And for what? Acceptance? From who? Hordak? Shadow weaver? What in the motherfucking world is she trying to accomplish?? She’s hurt Adora so much. I’m not sure they can come back from this. I fell so bad for Scorpia. She cares so much about Catra but I don’t think catra will ever truly accept her. She needs to realize how toxic Catra is right now.
4. Glimmer’s dad? What’s up with that? Is he alive? God Angella’s death hit me hard. I hate the death of mothers in shows. But if Micah is alive that means Glimmer isn’t an orphan which would be good.
Gotta say I loved this season a lot. The last one felt incomplete, this one just left me sobbing. It was so emotional. I think they did a good job. Now if you’ll excuse me I’m gonna go curl up in a ball and sob some more
One year later, the return of the......#Scorpra or #Cobrion eh your decide. #OrigamiFamily #OrigamiFreaks
