Today, the #beardedrunningtrucker would like to talk about #Failure a lot of people wouldn’t consider finishing any marathon a failure, nor would I. I’m proud that, with the support of friends, family, a great coach, and the best partner a man could wish for, I finished the #ScotiabankCalgaryMarathon in a time of 3:14:19. It was my third ever marathon, exactly 12 months after my first. I’ve come a long, long way in that year, and I feel like I’ve accomplished a lot. But I had a #Goal and that was to qualifications for #Boston2019 I failed. I couldn’t finish the race as strongly as I would’ve liked, and in the back 10km I lost all real ability to push! I came in 20lbs above the weight I really wanted to be at, I missed out on around two weeks of training mid-cycle (my own choice/fault), and I picked up an injury making my first ever #Podium a few weeks out from the race. I take full responsibility for this failure, and will take every step to make sure I have learned from it! Right, now that’s out of the way, on to the next challenge. I’m signed up for #EdmontonMarathon mid-August. I will use my experience of Calgary marathon to grow, and to improve...never have I been passed in the last 5km of a big race, I am the one who does the sprint finishes, I am the one who beats you at the line. That was a terrible feeling, and I vow to never let it happen again! #OnToTheNextOne (at Calgary, Alberta)
