been hearing a lot of cishet filipino “progressives” talk about how shocked they are that duterte had the gall to give the white US marine who murdered our trans sister jennifer laude an absolute pardon, and honestly, how are you shocked that a genocidal murderer would pardon a transmisogynist killer? how are you surprised when this administration that has done nothing but delay and undermine lgbtq, especially trans, rights every time the anti-discrimination bill hits the legislative floor in the past two decades? how are you surprised when you have the senate president openly spouting transphobic rhetoric on the senate floor and in public?
this is more than a gross miscarriage of justice for jennifer laude. this is a direct attack on the filipino trans community and every victim of the philippines’ corrupt justice system. this is US hegemony over filipino politics, military and economics.
