some stats: if you're a MotoGP™ rider... you're gonna be a girl dad! 🎀
disclaimer: the accuracy might not be 100% correct, because for some the data was unavailable and there could be calculus errors, so please take these statistics with a grain of salt! :)
let's start with a quick statistic of the current 2025 grid: there are 7 dads (Miguel Oliveira, Maverick Viñales, Álex Rins, Jack Miller, Joan Mir, Luca Marini, Brad Binder) out of the 22 official riders, of which 5 are girl dads (Oliveira, Viñales, Miller, Marini, Binder), therefore there's a ~31,8% rate of riders beings dads and amongst these a ~71,4% one of being girl dads!
ok so, up until 2025 (since 2002) there have been 157 official active MotoGP™ riders:
apparently, ~46,5% of them (73 riders) had at least a child (no matter the gender) and amongst these a whopping ~74% had at least one daughter (54 riders); while about ~63% of the dad riders had at least one son (46 riders).
then, ~33,3% of these girl dads (18 riders) had 2 or more daughters, which means that ~24,6% of all the dad riders had more that one daughter.
concerning the boy dads, even less (9 riders) had 2 or more sons, only ~19,5%; this means that ~12,3% of dad riders had more than one son.
specifically, just ~35,6% (26 riders) of all the dad riders had both a daughter and a son. Oh, and merely ~4% had twins (3 riders)!
here's a last full chart with all the data:
therefore, at the moment, if you're a MotoGP rider you have a ~34,3% chance of becoming a girl dad... Congratulations! [and ~29,2% chance of becoming a boy dad :)]

POLE → PODIUM → VICTORY Máximo Quiles takes his first pole in the FrenchGP, first podium in the BritishGP, and first victory in the ItalianGP (paralleling Marc Marquez's first milestones, below the cut).
“Now I have to still learn, I need to treat the races like they are a test because I have a lot of time with many races to enjoy, and of course, I want to do good results, but with this result it makes me really happy and I want more now.” — Máximo Quiles via Crash.Net
Why did no tell me that Scott Redding hit Marc’s shoulder so hard in celebration after he won the championship in 2018 that he dislocated his shoulder LMAOOO
David Emmett: “This is a question for everyone — it is quite a difficult question. Last week Jason Collins, an NBA player, admitted he was homosexual. Now there have been are no openly homosexual MotoGP riders. I want to hear your thoughts on why that is not the case. Are people afraid of coming out as gay, or are you all just more really interested in women?”
*laughter from the crowd*
Cal Crutchlow: “Should I go first?!”
*more laughter*
Cal Crutchlow: “Sorry David I’m off bounds — I’m nearly married. That’s all I have to say…I don’t know. I don’t think it matters, you know? I think this sport is about racing motorcycles. It’s never came out that anybody is gay. But maybe there are some, just hidden in the closet, I don’t know. Maybe I’m sat with one of them. I don’t know.”
Jorge Lorenzo: “For the people who ask me on Twitter, or whatever, if I am gay this is the time that they will know I’m not gay. I respect the gay people. Of course, there is no problem.”
Nick Harris: “Marc?”
*more laughter*
Marc Marquez: “I think it’s not a problem. I have a big respect for everybody, and everybody have a different personalities. Not a problem.”
Andrea Dovisioso: “I never thought about that, that some riders can be gay, but I think for everybody it would be not a problem. But, it is difficult to think. I don’t know why. But…”
Stefan Bradl: “Maybe if it makes faster we will think about it…”
*laughter from the entire room*
Stefan Bradl: “But so far I don’t have the experience. I’m not gay also. But for sure I respect the guys that are gay. They are also normal person.”
Scott Redding: “Yeah, same for me. I’ve been with a girlfriend for a long time now, and not really thought of going the other way so. Again, respect to everyone, and it is what it is.”
Scott Redding says the only reason why Alex Rins in still on the Moto GP Grid is because he is Spanish and so are the Promoters
Yamaha has endured a difficult start to the 2026 season following its complete switch to a V4 engine, with all of its riders frequently finishing near the back of the field.
Among them is factory rider Alex Rins, who has struggled to rediscover his form after the serious injuries sustained during the 2024 Italian GP. Competing on what many currently consider one of the least competitive bikes on the grid has only added to his challenges.
Former moto gp rider Scott Redding says that Alex Rins continued presence on the grid may be influenced by nationality rather than performance alone. As also the promoters are Spanish.
As Redding told.
"There are some guys, and they are all great riders. I don't take away from them, but you have guys like Alex Rins who is on a factory Yamaha, has been for a couple of years. Why? He is a good driver, but he has had many injuries, he is not constant". In this context, he introduces a particularly sensitive element by pointing out that "it should not be like this, but he is Spanish. Being British does not make it easier, and the fact that there are no British riders in moto gp is really crazy."
