Learning from Las Vegas, Venturi Scott-Brown
“but some recent critics have questioned the possible level of content to be derived from abstract forms.” (page 8, Venturi Scott-Brown)
Whilst working on ‘we live in the office’ by Giles Round, I was exposed to a lot of great research material. This was one of the books which I found really interesting, although it doesn’t explore architectural interiors, it explores the ornamentation/symbolism of architectural exteriors. It also explores the relationship between the exterior and interior (function) of buildings. Is the outside representative of what’s happening inside? The quote is interesting to me, as I link the concept to how the lack of ornamentation in post modern architecture, might have less content/learning/stimulation? for its users?
Ideas: architecture as a learning tool? Decoration as a learning tool? Or a research tool?
