A lone cairn sits among untouched powder. When the route is unclear or covered in snow, these small rock towers can be a welcome sign that you're on the right track. By rock or water, road or trail, the magic of this place is not to be missed. Sometimes the hardest part is simply the decision to go. But once you do, grab a friend and go for it, and it will be all worth it. @backcountry13 dropping the @orukayak into the Merced as El Cap towers overhead, a magical day in Yosemite Valley. Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year. -Emerson Cheers to a new year and another chance to follow the heart. 👊🏻 @garminoutdoor #havenolimits (source: scott_kranz | http://bit.ly/1SoI7Xw)
In 2014, I remember naming Yosemite as a "must-do trip" for 2015. I was lucky enough to check if off the list, my first trip there ever, last month. Although the high roads were closed, we made the most of the valley, hiking, backpacking, and kayaking the Merced River. Here, my friend @backcountry13 paddles my @orukayak below one of the valley's snow-capped spires on his way down river. Good times exploring with good folks in an epic setting.
