Release Notes: An illustrious career that has risen to the heights of success with metronomic regularity, UK producer and DJ, Scotty.A, is one of the chief exponents of a new breed of underground dance music that has its foundations in a rare combination of skill, technique and talent, represented now with “Into the Void” on Proton Music.
Shooting to public notoriety in 2011 after winning the DAR remix competition for label owner Denis A’s “Heroin”, the Norwich born producer saw immediate support from no lesser luminaries than Way Out West and Hope Recordings leading light, Nick Warren, and Argentina’s finest and Sudbeat head honcho, Hernan Cattaneo. Always passionate and dedicated to his craft Scotty has continued to bush the boundaries of his imagination with a plethora of original and remix production material that has gone hand-in-hand with DJ performances across Europe and South America at clubs including Ministry of Sound and Turnmills and events such as Sasha’s Last Night on Earth extravaganza at London’s famous Brixton Academy and John Digweed’s legendary Bedrock nights.
A production sound that has continually evolved and matured throughout his career, Scotty.A has seen his work allied to the finest modern imprints and some of the industry’s most renowned figures. ARVA, Manual Music and Tulipa have all seen Scotty.A feature among their catalogues while UK imprint, Axon, has continued to represent him on numerous occasion.
Remixing Barry Jamieson and Oliver Lieb has added stardust to the UK producer’s career, also seeing the latter recently remix Scotty’s own work for Proton Music. Indeed, it is with Proton Music that Scotty.A has seen the bulk of his production credits including four original EPs that has seen remixes from such leading lights as Dousk, Silinder and Navar. Returning once again with new scintillating material, Proton is thus proud to announce the release of “Into the Void”.
Pushing his production skills in different directions, the deep house inspired title track is an evolving work full of the deep hypnotic beats and intricate percussive top lines that have been a staple of the Scotty.A sound. Powered by deep, rhythmic chords, the hypnotic bed provides ample opportunity for an effortlessly smooth and undulating pad to wend its path from the mid point onwards combined with a reverb-soaked, top-end pluck, creating an ethereal work of intrigue and depth.
Intriguingly titled partner track, “Out in the Boonies”, continues Scotty’s evolution in sound with its subtle tech house flavours. Shuffling house rhythms combine with thumping beat as a melodious pad sweeps forth. Percussive variations continue apace, building in effortless fashion and perfectly wedded to the musical narrative woven into the fabric of Scotty.A’s continuously developing style.
A pair of new offerings from Scotty.A and his imagination are fully realised in “Touching the Void”.
