The last thing Katherine wanted to do was attend an impromptu Keough pride picnic in the Heritage Garden while she and Jay were at odds with one another. She did, however, have a sneaking suspicion that he’d be thinking the same thing and likely wouldn’t attend which did ease her anxiety just a little. She sighed softly as she looked down at her phone, checking the time to see when this whole affair would wrap up, while she sipped on weak lemon squash, bored out of her mind. At least she could tell Damian that she’d been there and that she’d said something or other to the house captain about her intentions to campaign for the position next year. Whatever, at least the lemon frosted cupcakes her good, even if the rest of the event was kind of shitty.
When she looked up from her phone she made what was possibly the biggest mistake she’d made all week, which was truly saying something for Kat Bishop. She made eye contact with Scotty Donovan and might have accidentally smiled at him. She quickly averted her gaze and pressed her fingertips to her lips as if she could physically tell whether she’d smiled at him or not by feeling it out. “Fuck,” she cursed under her breath, praying that God might have the good grace to strike her down where she stood before Scotty Donovan decided that he and Katherine were pals now.
