Rare Drachm from Skotussa, Thessaly c. 480 - 400 BC
On the obverse, the forepart of a horse prancing left. On the reverse, a grain ear set diagonally within an incuse square, SKO around.
Attractive coin of the Rare Skotussa mint of Archaic Greece.
The ancient Skotussa (or Scotussa) was in Pelasgiotis, Thessaly, between Pherae and Pharsalus. The ruins of Skotussa are near the modern farming village of Agia Triada in the Serres regional unit, Greece.
