It was early, the sun barely peaking over the horizon. Echo still laid in bed, curled up in her flannel comforter, which protected her from the chilled wind. Deimos and Asteria laid before the fire that once blazed brightly during the night, which was now nothing but smoldering embers.
It was silent - very odd for the Forest in which their cottage was located. No birds chirped their song, no squirrels jumping from tree to tree. Nothing.
Deimos and Asteria lofted their heads from their beds, ears twitching. Their fur on their spine and back of their neck standing on end. The large wolves removed themselves from their comfort and placed themselves in front of the door of the cottage.
Echo was still sound asleep, obvious to the events in which were about to unfold. An unnerving howl echoed through their home as the two wolves let off their warning. Chilling enough to raise bumps on the flesh, even of a sleeping one.
She shot out of bed, her foot getting caught on the blanket, which caused her to tumble to the floor. As she scrambled to get her bearings, it was then that they all heard the growling outside their home.
Echo froze in place. The sound, one that haunted her dreams to this day. Ones she heard throughout the frozen North. A panic ensued within her as she began to untangle her limb from her blanket and rush for her armor and bow.
Deimos and Asteria clawed at the bolted shut door, growls and snarls coming from them as they wished to force themselves through the door. As Echo put on the last of her gear, flashbacks of the sights she saw plagued her mind. Shaking her head, attempting to clear her thoughts, she rushed to the door, bow in her hand, quiver on her back.
She hefted the bolt up, releasing the two beasts, who let forth another howl before they began their hunt.
The Quel'dorei caught glance of the first ghoul, knocked her arrow, and readied herself, praying to the Gods that she could get herself through.
