Working as a sniper during the Gravel War meant that he saw a lot of things through his scope that others usually didn't. And, sure; he'd seen scenes of unspeakable violence and death through his scope that would make any other sane man queasy. But that wasn't what caught him off guard the most.

Instead, it was the oddly human scenes of camaraderie that entered his field of vision that seemed to startle him more than anything. With all the acts of inhumane brutality he’d witnessed the tiny red and blue specks on the ground do, he sometimes forgot that those bloodthirsty animals at the end of his rifle were people.
