I will answer for Cetah and M’kaiko.

1. How does your character think of their father? What do they hate and love about him? What influence - literal or imagined - did the father have?

Cetah doesn’t get to see her father too often. The keeper male likes to disappear into the world for many moons at a time and whenever he did return it was never for long and as he had sired quite a few children she never really got a lot of one on one time with him. Still, she is quite fond of him despite this and only has good things to say about him should she ever be asked. One thing he has affected quite strongly in her is her own wanderlust she developed over the years. She’d hear the stories he’d return with, and the fact he’d been so many places while she was stuck back in the shroud, and wanted nothing more then to follow in his footsteps and see the world as well.

Kaiko only has memories of her father when she was young. Sadly he was struck down by imperials that attacked their tribe, giving his life to give the rest a remote chance to get away. What memories she does have of him are fond ones. She remembers a strong, prideful man who cared greatly for his people. A lot of her own prideful personality is likely born from her admiration of his, at least to some degree. 

2. Their mother? How do they think of her? What do they hate? Love? What influence - literal or imagined - did the mother have?

Cetah’s relationship with her mother is close though somewhat strained at times. The elderly priestess of the Clan Namalri would have preferred her daughter stay at her side and learn to take over after she was ready to hand her staff to the next to take her role, but eventually after many talks (arguments, really) she eventually acquiesced to letting Cetah lead her own life as long as she promised to come back home every so often and to someday return to the clan in full once her wanderlust had run it’s course. Cetah feels her mother is a little too stuck in her ways and could stand to enjoy life a little more, but she also admires her for her strength in spirit and her dedication to her cause, hoping that she can only be as strong herself someday. 

Kaiko’s mother was a mousey woman that she barely remembers. If anything she was raised more by other, stronger women in the tribe and as such remembers them far more fondly then her own birth mother. Though, she still would prefer the woman be alive and not having been one of the first unfortunates to be struck down by the imperials. If she’s taken away anything from her vague memories of her mother it is that of not being weak willed. 

11. How do they see themselves: as smart, as intelligent, uneducated?

Cetah doesn’t really find herself as particularly intelligent. She’s far from the opposite, either, but she knows she has a lot of room to learn in many areas. She does feel she is talented when it comes to making clothes and she picks up magic quite well, and generally the things she does know she feels fairly smart about but she’ll definitely be the first to tell you she has a lot to learn. One of many reasons she’s always out and exploring and just generally trying to expand upon her knowledge.

Kaiko very much see’s herself as street smart. She’s quick witted and a fast study so she tends to pick up on things pretty easily but she’d hardly call herself a genuine scholar. 

16. What does your character do for a living? How do they see their profession? What do they like about it? Dislike?

Cetah makes clothing, primarily! Well in all honestly she primarily just explores and offers her healing and stuff to those in need, but that doesn’t really pay the bills so what does is various accessories she makes and repair work she offers. She loves making clothes though and quite enjoys the work. Honestly there’s not much she dislikes about it, but she’s not the type to see negatives in most things so that’s probably not much of a surprise to anyone.

Kaiko calls herself a freelancer. She’ll pretty much take on most jobs if the pay is good. Generally delivery jobs to or through dangerous areas, the occasional bounty hunting type gig, among other things. For the most part she’s proud of her work, it gives her a chance to get out and see the world as well as put her talents in fighting to work when needed. If there’s anything she dislikes it’s just the type of people she sometimes has to work for, she has little patience for people belittling or talking down to her and some clients can grate on those nerves quite easily.

43. Does your character have any secrets? If so, are they holding them back?

Honestly? no, not really. Cetah is an honest girl who feels she has little to really hide from the world. Maybe someday she will find something in her life she wants to hide from others, but up to this point she’s pretty much an open book. Ask her something about herself and its’ likely she’ll answer. 

Kaiko has a lot of secrets in regards to her life growing up in Ul’dah and just the many things she’s been through to leave her as the person she is now. She very much holds people at length and very few have ever been privy to her innermost thoughts.

What is/was your character’s relationship with their father like?

Azimbayar’s father was a master horse breeder among the Noykin who basically upends the local economy wherever he takes his herd. His wealth is measured not in coin, but the sheer size of grazing land he demands and the train of migratory workers who depend on his patronage. He could have started a new tribe all his own, but decided to trade a little bit of his freedom for status and found a bride dwelling on the Dawn Throne.

He is an ambitious man, not cruel but certainly callous at times, more concerned with numbers and favors than people’s day-to-day needs. Ever since his daughter came of age he has sought a match for her, only delaying with the brief hope that she might soon become Khatun. He aggressively pushed for her excellence in all the pursuits of a high class tribeswoman, wanting her to mimic the demure ladies of Yangxia but accepting her skills in riding and combat as natural for any Xaela tribeswoman. Yet his interest in his daughter’s life was never anything more than utilitarian; every hint of closeness, nothing more than a carrot on the end of her mother’s stick. Even separated by an ocean and a continent from him, she alternates between wishing to do well for his legacy and resenting his very existence.

Is your character preoccupied with money or material possession? Why or why not?

Material possessions are inconsequential to Azimbayar in much the same way they seem immaterial to any young person lucky enough to have too much without ever fearing its absence. In truth she would be devastated by the loss of her personal effects, her horse, her wealth. That said, she genuinely seeks out experiences and people over personal enrichment. There is much she would willingly give away, but little that she could bear losing. Everything around her has “sentimental value.”

Which does your character idealize most: happiness or success?

Viewing herself as largely successful anyway, Azimbayar feels she has little to prove. Good experiences are what she seeks out, along with amusing relationships with people whom she can leave guessing. She is not totally without ambition, though, nor the drive to see her dreams through with some sacrifice. But she is confident that her natural talents can see her through any obstacle, along with those of the people she’s charmed along the way. “Success” would rank higher than fleeting feelings, if she was asked directly, but how willing is she to commit to any hardship?

What is your character’s biggest relationship flaw? Has this flaw destroyed relationships for them before?

Azimbayar plays games with her partners both platonic and romantic, but doesn’t expect to be played back. She is easily inspired to jealousy, but craves attention and flirts incessantly. She is constant in her affection, but inconsistent in execution. Azimbayar is fairly childish and self-centered, is somewhat aware of this, and still considers it the other’s problem. 

Unfortunately for any relationship running deep enough to inspire the young warrior-singer to do better, she has intimate knowledge with the trappings of romance and romantic tragedy without any of the real experience. Real, loving relationships that fail to match her stories are just plain confusing. Certainly she has damaged, if not totally broken, previous friendships only to walk away annoyed.

In what ways does your character compare themselves to others? Do they do this for the sake of self-validation, or self-criticism?

Inferiority is an emotion not often felt anymore by Azimbayar. She found her talents, thought of them as being on the better and more visible side, and took to perfecting them in ways that suited a proper beloved daughter of Azim. Women like Sokhatai are forces of nature who perform a certain task to the level of high art. People like her are far better to observe and cultivate than fruitlessly compare oneself to, but others are competition, opportunities for Azimbayar to show her superiority.

What makes a good plot for a story, campaign, etc 🔥

Good plot doesn’t have to be consistent. It can be strange, incongruous, even a little broken once you take it apart and look at the pieces. “Good story,” more than just being subjective, can cover so many kinds of stories that the aspect that makes it enjoyable can vary wildly.

I like stories that are more than a little broken. Conceptual stuff, skewed by perspective and psychological damage. Something needs to stay consistent through all of it, but the order of events and the reasoning behind said events aren’t necessarily that something. I can’t say I’ve delivered on anything close to the absurd psychological stories I like, but they prove that you can improve the rest of your story, campaign, whatever more than a little by intentionally smashing the plot.

❛ Th-the… the way that I’m often patronized, ❜ she breathed out a sigh ,❛–i-it’s just as much as I can handle, some days, when I’m told this sort of thing… Raenyste, y-you impetuous girl– dissociated girl– o-obsessive girl…❜ she crossed her arms beneath her bust, silvery brows knitting tightly,  ❛ N-now– I’d fancy that– even if I am th-these things–… I know quite a bit more than I let on. ❜ Her pallid lashes lowered, brushing against the dewy rose of her cheekbones, ❛ –and that… I-I find a remnant solace in.   ❞  🙨;;

She gripped onto the curl she held, eyes shutting tightly, ❛ …t-truthfully, I am afraid. I-I’ve been afraid… my entire life. ー☆* Ace of Wands - from where do you derive inspiration for your character?

『✞』oh, my little ghostly elf~ really, i’ve never stopped having inspiration for her, and so many things have gone to make her into what she is. but, there are a couple motifs that influence her the strongest…the first is religious motifs– there is something so ancient and beautiful about it, and the ideas of sin and martyrdom do carry into the universe she is in flawlessly. also, she has catholic guilt.the second is fairytales, with princesses and fairies– swan lake is always a source of inspiration for me. i love that odette is a princess who is alienated, and wholly inhuman due to her curse. the third is paranatural occultism– she is a psychopomp, and has many other paranatural, faery-like traits as well. i love magic, and raenyste is a character that is just made of it! 🙨;;
