Cartoon Network Friday Spotlight: Ed, Edd n’ Eddy- “Scrambled Ed”

I feel like I always come back to the Eds, but you know what they say, write about what you know. Ed, Edd n’ Eddy has always been special to me, and watching the whole show again on HBO Max (as well as the specials and movie on Amazon) only reaffirms my love for the series.

And it’s funny, while I generally am on the side who prefers the confidence of the later episodes, there is something special about the first two seasons as they premiered during what was probably my peak Cartoon Network-watching period. When I look back to my best memories of CN, it involves the Eds in some capacity, and I often think back to the first 2 or 3 seasons.

Like this season 2 classic, where Double D stays up all night to complete a model ship, but his attempt to sleep in is spoiled by Eddy’s dreams of Ed’s Sea Ranch, an underwater utopia that will surely make the trio wealthy beyond their wildest dreams. Eddy insists that Double D helps him out, but he’s not alone, as seemingly everyone else in the Cul-De-Sac need his assistance in some way. Unfortunately, our sleep-deprived Edward isn’t much use, and things don’t end up well for the crew.

It does result in another funny episode, though, including one of Rolf’s greatest bits of wisdom- “never use hot wax too sooth enraged lobsters.” Thank you.
