Robe reveal! I completed the patchwork & lining last winter and shelved it in Spring 2024, then sewed all the red trim (also from my stash!) and finishing touches last week. It's very comfortable and used up *some* of my scrap stash LOL

Learning something new

Today I made my very first ever foundation paper pieced quilt block and I am STOKED. Why didn't anyone tell me how fun and easy this is? And it's a real scrapbuster; every piece of fabric I used in it came from Mt Scrapmore.

In anticipation of a large sewing project, I made myself some pattern weights!

I first made them from 5"x10" rectangles (solid green and solid orange above), but realised these were a bit big; so then made the 4"x8" as recommended by the pattern (orange plaid).

Because my fabrics were loosely-woven, and I'd be filling them with aquarium gravel, I used a lightweight fusible interfacing. I think this was a great idea and highly recommend it.

I'm making an afghan as a holiday gift for my new neighbors, a lovely older gay couple who have been over to chat with us like three times before we're even moved in!

I made a lot of amigurumi during 2020-2022 it left me with lots of partly used skeins of yarn in random colours. So one of my yarn projects for 2023 is a scrapbuster project. I plan on making a Hygge Burst blanket to use up the awkward scraps I have with bits too small for normal projects.

This is a tiny bit out of my comfort zone as I prefer to buy and use yarn for specific patterns. Or plan out the exact colours and amounts I need so I don't end up with too much extra or short of yarn. A project that is all about just putting things together is a bit intimidating so make a pleasing end project without knowing what it will look like.

I am also making my first magic yarn balls to use up the tiny scraps that can't be used. Eventually they will be used for a project where I hold two strands together one a plain white or black with the multicoloured one.
