I've officially made Scrapper information (wahooo it's been a while)

Minor Octo-Expansion Spoliers ahead

Kamabo Co was a little desperate after Tartar's defeat, and started the Scraps Program

in an attempt to clear their company name, they decided to help the scraps of the sanitized octarian soldiers and put them back together, with a process more painful than sanitation

it's sort of like a rehab facility, where you're put in a room, given an IV, and some time

doctors check in on the Scraps regularly, and most patients are able to make a recovery. not a smooth one, but a recovery nonetheless. Once they've "recovered", they're placed back into the octarian army and who knows what happens

The ones that cant recover, though, are forced to stay in a facility where they're under a close watch until they die

once they're completely sanitized, you cant turn them back

Have any of them made it to the surface? You said they get placed back into octo military, but have any tried to make it topside?

While their bodies look.....sort of recovered, what about their mind? Is free will back on the table fully? Kinda? Or are they lost without Kamabos influence?

How's the un-sanitzation process work? Do they get like an IV of regular ink and hope for the best?

Have any of them ever made it to the surface? Have any tried to make it topside? Nope! They're kept locked tight inside a very secret facility, which doesn't allow them to escape or really move freely, though the place is huge, which allows them all their own personal space, despite their numbers. Those who manage to escape from the facility are seen as unstoppable and are killed as soon as possible- it's dangerous to have a monster out of control, even if they have their consciousness back

While their bodies look.....sort of recovered, what about their mind? Is free will back on the table fully? Kinda? Or are they lost without Kamabo's influence? Their mind still has traces of the sanitization, and due to the unbalance, can sometimes be more insane/feral than sanitized soldiers. Though once they've "fully recovered" (their bodies and mind will never truly heal, and scars will remain, but they can regain their free will), Kamabo Co decides where their futures lay, as soldiers or civilians, though generally they become soldiers, since, again, they never truly heal

How's the un-sanitzation process work? Do they get like an IV of regular ink and hope for the best? A bit hard to explain, and it's below the cut due to some possible triggers (mention of injections; purging)

The octoling is placed into solitary confinement, then injected with an ink-thinner (hc that sanitized ink is denser than regular ink). They're not given regular ink until they've reached the point in their recovery where they can easily speak full sentences, or prove their "sanity". It's basically a process where the patient is given time and the doctors cross their fingers, since there really isn't much they can do until the patient successfully rids themselves of some of the sanitization themselves, generally by purging. It's not a pretty process, and the ink as well as the thinner can be pretty toxic, causing the decay of their bodies, sometimes causing them to become even more zombie-esque.
