I love my fabric scraps, mostly because they come from such beautiful larger pieces of fabric! I keep fabric scraps in lovely little mason jars in my sewing room, and enjoy the burst of color they add. While most scraps get used for projects (like #crabbyquilt), there *are* times a jar gets especially full. Not wanting to waste the fabrics, I've started making these adorable improv fabric scrap blocks! They're super fast to make, so vibrant in tones, and just plain fun to create. Scrappy baubles

I’m linking up with the December edition of Scraptastic Tuesday and sharing an idea for using even the smallest scraps.

A couple of weeks ago my son and I spent a lovely evening giving some scabby old plastic baubles a new lease on life by covering them with some scraps of fabric. For these we used Tula Pink scraps from making my Tula Pink City Sampler blocks.

We got the best results when we trimmed the edges of the scraps with pinking shears and applied the Mod Podge liberally. It was such a messy project but lots of fun!

100 days 100 blocks: cross blocks

Over the past month I have been joining Angie (of Gnome Angel), Lisa (of Sweet Little Pretties) and Raylee (of Sunflower Quilting) for a Tula Pink City Sampler Instagram sew-along.  The aim of this sew-along is to sew a block a day for 100 days starting on 17 August.

I thought I would share some of my progress. The first ‘chapter’ is all about cross blocks, and I’ve made mine using prints from the Tula Pink Acacia collection.

I’m linking up with Scraptastic Tuesday since I managed to make all of these blocks just from my scraps! Each block finishes at 6″ and some of them have up to 24 pieces - meaning that the cutting dimensions are are small as 1″. This made them perfect for using up my smaller scraps.

I heart Scraps

Whether it is mosaics, scrapbooking or sewing, I love scrappy projects. On Saturday I managed to finish a scrappy heart mini quilt that I started over a year ago (before Valentine’s Day 2015).

This project was one of the WIPs included on my list of proposed finishes for quarter 1 of the 2016 Finish-a-long. Last year I cut a whole lot of coral scraps into skinny strips but didn’t get it finished in time for Valentine’s day. I set myself a goal of getting it done before Valentine’s day this year.

After assembling the top I free-motion quilted the mini in a wonky heart design.

To celebrate getting it done in time I bought myself a Valentine’s Day present; some pretty scrapbooking supplies.
