BAC Scratch Online
Having pioneered scratch performances (where audiences are made privy to the unpolished work in progress) over ten years ago, Battersea Arts Center are at it again and upping the anti. Translating the concept into a digital terrain, Scratch Online launched last week and is currently in a Beta testing phase.
Powered by forward thinking artistic director David Jubb, the project will seek to utilize the immense potential for creative sharing offered by social networks. If it goes to plan Scratch Online will become a global theatrical hub where people can share and develop ideas as well as witness progresses of creation, further breaking down the barrier between audience and practitioner.
A Younger Theatre's Jake Orr and Maddy Costa will be residents of the online space for the first month, hoping to ignite conversation and spark debate.
