I think, to be quite honest and really lame, they should go to Pop’s. It’s nothing special and they know it, but it’s the symbolism behind all of it. Her hand feels way too light without that diamond and it feels like it’s floating, sometimes, so she places on top of his and it’s like being eighteen again, like no time has passed. She knows that Archie feels guilty, that he feels like he interrupted their future, but she wants to put this behind them -- after everything, she just wants to love and be loved without agenda. They have so much time ahead, they’re still so young. They can still just hold hands at Pop’s like they’re still highschool sweethearts.
They sit side by side and order milkshakes and onion rings, and there’s a song playing in the jukebox and maybe they should be talking but they already talked so much as they remodeled the Pembrooke, waiting for the divorce papers to come, and Chad to go; the silence is a good thing. It’s just a lot of peace. I think that’s what I want for them, after it all.
