Actually, you know what, I really ought to subject you guys to my Sims 2 nonsense more:

Rambling and ravings under the cut (content warning for 19th-century style cousin marriage and weird, cliquey, hierarchical and patriarchal bullshit I guess):

This is one of the "tamer" branches on this family tree, mind you — Like, yes! Both sides come from sets of 10 siblings (do NOT indulge multiple have 10 kids wants in the same generation! Fortune sims might be avaricious BUT ONLY FAMILY SIMS KNOW TRUE GREED!!!), and one of those parents (Enuo, Sephiroth's second-to-last) also comes from a set of nearly 20 siblings, and the lovely parents of the girl we're viewing this from are first cousins once removed — But they are removed!

A fun little fact for people who don't play Sims: for whatever reason, family relations are only counted from grandparents down. This is even the case (last I played) in the latest entry, Sims 4, meaning that in an unmodded game you actively have to prevent distant-cousin relationships — A task that becomes increasingly difficult if you don't regularly make new sims for your existing population to mingle with. I don't know why they didn't just go a generation up, as that covers everything that's genetically and socially significant by Western (and these games are very Western) standards. Very strange.

But! For once this works in my favour! Because this shitass neighbourhood is founded on cliquey aristocratic bullshit, and what do cliquey aristocrats love more than a bit of cousin marriage?

For a bit of background, Lyse-on-Acheron started out as something of a genetic experiment to see what would happen if two families descended from cross-marrying sibling pairs (so only four people to serve as founding stock) intramingled with each other, and only each other, for what amounts to hundreds of ingame years. In real life this would result in some pretty severe congenital issues and a population that would be easily ravaged by disease and disaster even without the congenital issues due to a comical lack of genetic diversity, but Sims 2 does not take such factors into account and thus all you have left to observe are facial features, pigmentation, and personality.

And then these bitches weren't able to progress in their jobs enough to pay their bills, so I made them some friends. These were (most of) the Avalanche gang, and Sephiroth's family, the Newmakers.

A little genetic diversity would be good, yes. Plus, it'd be nice to vary things up a bit... :)

Cut to over a year later and we have a total historical population of 223 people with 114 of those being descended from Sephiroth. 63 of those are descended from their spouse Pyrrhos, AKA the eponymous Hollow Knight from the hit 2017 indie game "Hollow Knight" (2017) (veeerrry cool) (btw Hornet's daughter Silk on this tree predates Silksong I LOVE WHEN I'M RIGHT ON THE PULSE <333). As you can imagine, they are Very Pointy.

The lineage shown on this tree follows the "main" line of descent through Kadaj, going Sephiroth -> Kadaj -> Casimir -> Charon -> Cosmogenia. Casimir is the current and second head of the family, as Kadaj died of old age before Sephiroth (who then immediately proceeded to have a fistfight with his widow on the front lawn afterward; this game is incredible). Charon marks the first (and likely only) non-eldest son heir because I was operating off of male-preference primogeniture (as it provides a restriction and also I love imposing unfair archaic bullshit on this catty Y2K capitalist utopia), before I realised it wouldn't make sense for Sephiroth's family with their transcendent relationship to gender to give a shit about this nonsense (and also I now have the Bauglirs — Yes, Silm Bauglirs! to carry on the sexism).

To fix this, I shall be having Cosmogenia marry Vesper, the only child of her eldest aunt Vesna :) Unity :) Fusion :) It's just what Sephiroth would have wanted :)

This is just scratching the surface, btw. I've been subjecting the buddies in my discord to this for over a year at this point. Xoxo <3

I think in seeing a lot that enrages me with its injustice and wanting to vent about it I've unintentionally gotten myself into a nasty little rut of simmering rage these past two days, so I want to counteract that with something positive:

For all my gripes with this website, I really do appreciate you guys in my circle. My friends, my followers, my mutuals -- I'm thankful to share a space with you guys. It's nice having your input and it's nice seeing you get up to stuff. Thank you for making this hellsite worthwhile.

Watching a video on how many mushrooms there are in the Zelda series, and I've just gotten to the portion covering Skyview Temple.

Jesus Christ, the air quality in that dungeon must be awful. Even if the glowing mushrooms you see everywhere aren't toxic, if they're thriving down here then the conditions must be excellent for all sorts of mould growth.

Underground, filled with pools of stagnant water, crawling with mould and bugs... it's a wonder why that little green plonker didn't die of an infected finger-scratch or get riddled with a persistent respiratory illness. Ghirahim might be the least-worrisome thing in that dungeon.
