so the grady leaving him behind nightmares aren't the only nightmares wheatley has. he's also deathly afraid of glados being mad that wheatley is finally happy and killing grady or something like that. this is completely irrational of course as if that were true grady would be dead by now but wheatley's got that good anxiety and abandonment issues so y'know. an incident like this is actually what inspired grady to make the panic room, although he kept it a secret from wheatley while he was building it so that he could surprise him, because wheatley is so adorable when he's all surprised and happy!! and on wheatley's part, the whole thing just makes him even more grateful to have someone like grady who actually cares about him and wants to see him get better. literally the first thing he did after sitting there in shock at the insane effort that went into the Panic Room was bonk him lmao
also, all the other cores eat up their relationship like it's a delicacy, and they constantly compliment them on how great they are together. even before they were actually together, everybody shipped them so hard it was unbelievable, but nobody ever talked about it to them - it was kind of like an inside joke. they all thought that grady would make the first move but when it was actually wheatley they all collectively had a stroke
