'Airport style' screening delivers a very high level of security assurance, but at a cost to both the site and the visitor. Doing nothing is cheap but without any threat mitigation.
The aim of high footfall screening is to seek a compromise position. It needs to be operated by empowered security staff who use it to support their decision-making about who might represent a threat.
