How closely are you sticking to selkie mythology, and which version?

I'm mostly looking at Shetland mythology, where they live underwater, but can survive on land, though I'm also adjusting it to fit my world. Thinking about it, I focus more on the guardians who aid the selkies in-story, rather than the selkies. At least currently, might explore more later. Thanks for the ask!

hey, happy wbw! i would love to hear about the star keepers.

The Star Keepers! First off, they're actual stars that can sometimes come down and take human form (which they do if they're burned out or weakened or generally just want a break after centuries of shining). They tend to stay away from human royals--the smart ones, do, anyway--and sometimes pop up and help a cartographer "adjust" their map (since all starkeepers know every inch of the known and unknown world). On very rare occasions they've been known to hook up with humans and have children, but this is rare since most of them are honestly rather arrogant and think of humans as insignificant grains in the sands of time. I think that's it. Happy WBW!

Tell me everything you want to about Talia!

WOW, I am so sorry this ask has taken forever to answer! Talia is one of the most interesting characters for me to write, because she's the character who started this world. She's also a lot like me, which is kind of neat. I think I give her a lot of my traits that I have, and it's been fascinating to watch her grow through the negative ones that I myself still struggle with. In more simplistic terms, Talia is the daughter of a pair of Wordmages (basically master Scribes) who essentially have made a name for themselves, leaving her stuck in their shadow. With a legacy like that, Talia struggles with feeling like she's got a shot or even really belongs in the family. Her journey is one of learning how important we are as individuals, and how much we have to offer. Thanks for the ask!
