It's been a fairly quiet week in Sydney. The cold is starting to creep in a little and the rain has been coming around more frequently. Granted, it will never be Buffalo-cold, but winter is slowly approaching.
On Thursday, we went to Kelly's and sang karaoke. It's a lot of fun, I really enjoy it. I've been loving this new group of friends: Rafeh, Phoebe, David, Scott, Kanga, Brodie. They're just really good people and we all get along well. It's been nice to have another steady group of Aussie friends.
We went to this place called Scruffy Murphy's last night and it was absolutely fantastic for the strangest reason. There was a band playing live music, and they played really good music like "Mr. Brightside" and "Raise Your Glass" and "All the Small Things." Just good, solid jams. So, I was dancing with my friends, singing along, sipping a beer, and everyone around me is just dancing and having an amazing time. It wasn't like club-style dancing, there was no grinding, no strangers hooking up on the dance floor, no show offs. It was just a bunch of people drinking and singing and dancing. I met a few Irish girls. There were these two ladies probably in their mid-forties who were dancing and I was so excited. I said to Raf, "Hey, I like these ladies, I want to make friends." So, I went over to them and I was singing to them and dancing with them and they absolutely loved it. And then it hit me: this was exactly like Sherkston. I was having mini conversations with a ton of people, dancing with mom-aged women, just having a genuinely good time dancing my little heart out to a live band playing classic music. It was Sherkston meets Sydney, which was so amazingly fantastic, I can't even properly describe the feeling.
my homie gaz is putting on down and outs in brum next month, you should probs come or something
