So, Amy's role in Shadow's redemption was replaced in the third movie, making it the third time this has happened

What makes the scene in Sonic Adventure 2 work is that Amy embodies Maria's core qualities of compassion, hope, and an unwavering belief in others. That's why Shadow didn't push her away when she hugged him, why he hears her out when she approaches him, and why he extended his promise to Maria to her. Having Amy be the one that gets through to Shadow makes the most sense characterwise because she's the most emotionally intelligent of the group. Even if the movie doesn't have Maria's promise (which... fine), having a different character take Amy's role in that scene as if she's interchangeable undermines what is arguably Amy's biggest character-defining moment and strips the scene of its deepper emotional resonance and impact on Shadow

Kinda don't want to talk abt this on this evil website again but I feel like it could've been so easy to keep Maria terminally ill in sonic 3 actually even w Shadows changed backstory. They could've just said something like "hey this alien DNA has healing properties and junk. We could use this to help Maria and other people like her" like idk. So simple. Especially since they made it so Shadows quill is what kept Gerald alive. It was all right there

Wish the hedgehog movies would just chill with the jokes. Apply a quota or something Idk. There's a couple of moments in this one I feel deserved a little more time to settle and breathe

Actually even if Amy does turn out to be in the third movie (post-credits scene doesn't count), there's still something about the marketing for this film that doesn't sit right with me. Tails wasn't a secret. Knuckles wasn't a secret. Shadow certainly wasn't a secret. Why are they being so needlessly coy and tight-lipped about the most prominent female character's inclusion in the filmverse? We're about to be three movies and one mini series in and we still don't know if any of the female characters from the games are gonna appear anytime soon, except for Maria, who is fridged. I don't wanna go as far as make a misogyny accusation, but this is... really weird

Yeah unless they reveal later that Amy is going to be in the third movie, pretty much all of my interest in the film is gone now. Because genuinely what the fuck is the point of having the movie be so focused on Shadow if a vital part of his arc is gone?

I've said this before, but... did the writers really not consider the implications of having the only female game character they've introduced so far be the one who gets fridged? Especially when they already did that with Longclaw?

The female representation in these movies is embarrassing on the writers part at this point
