Scullane point has thwarted me before. I tried rounding it last summer only for the wind to freshen more than was comfortable, and I ducked into Castlehaven instead. Not this time though as I had the wind was southeast force 2-3 allowing me to run around the headland all be it slowed down by a flooding spring tide. As the wind dropped I rowed the last quarter of a mile into Barlogue creek. I arrived at high tide, and headed straight to the area of the creek known as the rapids, which is a narrow channel that enters the beautiful saltwater lake and marine nature reserve, Lough Ine. I actually needn't have worried, as the lake continues to fill for approximately 45 minutes after the flood, and as you can see above the current was still plenty strong!!
