I'm noticing that every time Scully knows something that Mulder doesn't that's in a sphere that's conventionally considered masculine, she always explains that it's because her dad or brothers were into whatever it was.

I'm sorry but if you were not into model kits and your brothers were, that is not gonna give you encyclopedic knowledge of WW2 airplane models, just admit you're into it Scully.

Mulder won't judge.

I loved what you said about Scully and how that made her different from other female characters that we see in procedural shows. It’s exactly what I think and it’s why I love her. You can try to find other female characters to compare her to but really you won’t find one.

Thanks, anon. As a woman, I’ve always related to the delicate balance between Scully’s professional/emotional life. As much as we rag on the mostly male writing staff (and often for good reason), I do appreciate that since Season 1, Scully has been given permission to cry and to feel things without it being a slight against her strength as an investigator (or as a person, for that matter).
