Kurland, taking inspiration from Warhol-shooter Valerie Solanas' SCUM (Society for Cutting Up Men), constructed this book of collages under the rubric Society for Cutting Up Men's Books (SCUMB), taking white male photographers' books that she felt had monopolized shelves and artistic discourse and reworking this canon into something new.
