(( Tbh, the concept of "death of the author" is a hard one to take, from a modern content creation standpoint. I understand how you feel, balancing between fan interpretation and creator intent. It's never easy. ))
x well, the weirdest part about coming to terms with the idea that people are going to do what they will, and there’s little to no chance of stopping them, not without someone getting hurt, and that’s not at all why i’m making the series
like the Kevin situation in the WTNV fandom; when the voice actor for Kevin said something along the lines of people automatically interpreting the character he voiced as white
many people thought, due to him saying this, that it was alright to attack others, and guilting them for drawing the character, kevin, as white or light-skinned, and told them Kevin R Free is uncomfortable with white or light-skinned interpretations of the character, Kevin.
the voice actor then had to come out and say, openly, that he was not uncomfortable with it, just something he noticed; personally, it was something i’m glad he made others aware of, but for other people to go attacking other fans only caused more issues than solved them
and i’d hate for someone to message me asking “hey, this person is writing nik as if they’re actually just a person in an asylum”, and then say “wow, i’m uncomfortable”
and not being allowed to voice that much without someone feeling justified to attack someone else because of their interpretation
so it’s one of the things that i have to be mindful of; there are a few things that i hope no one will do, but that’s not something that can be entirely avoidable, and it’s out of my hands after a point
i just hope that people will be civil with one another
