How To Solved MB SDConnect C4 Configuration Failure

If you failed to set up or configure Star diagnosis  SDConnect C4 , showing 00 error on main unit, you can follow firmware reflash steps below to solve the problem.

Unscrew and disassemble MB SDConnect C4 unit

This is correct wiring diagram.

Right click on the icon “StartKeyCenter”, then “Properties” – “Find target”

On the desktop, right click on “StartKeyCenter”, then option “Properties” – “Find target” – C:\programmer \SDconnect Toolkit file, find out last 3 folder: update_automatic, update_manual;update_special. , correct names by deleting the final letter”x”

At the right corner of the desktop, click “Administrator”.

This toolkit is being initialized

Click “00/Cable Accessible”

Click on “Register / Configure”

Update “CSD_2_11.zip”

The system software was successfully updated.

Back to update “Bootimage_2_3.zip”

The system software was successfully updated.

Back to click on “00/ Cable Accessible”

You see it’s accessible.

Click on “Software update”, then “03 PMpic29_cpld13.zip”

The system software was successfully updated.

Check the information

Back to the desktop, right click on “StartKeyCenter”, then option “Properties” – “Find target” – C:\programmer \SDconnect Toolkit file, rename the last 3 folder, add a suffix “x“, the final folder name will be update_automaticx, update_manualx; update_specialx.

Car symptom: Engine warning light came on and the car just died. if I put the key in and turn to pos 2 the only lights which come on are ABS and a red triangle with a car in the middle, (no glow plug light, or engine light etc), I can NOT hear the fuel pump and the engine Cooling fan starts and runs at full speed and is quite loud, I turn the key to start and nothing happens no crank, just silence.

I went through most of the obvious fuses and cant see anything blown.

What I tried to do: I connected it to my carsoft v12 diag kit and ibm t30 laptop I have, there seems to be no communication with ‘ME’. I have checked the ECU connectors for corrosion, clean as a whistle. I keep all my drain plugs clear because I know that water Ingres is a problem on this car. My past experience with water problems in electrics is you get intermittent problems but this happened suddenly.

Problem Analysis and what to do: 1) Optional possibility: Failure to communicate with an ECU can be a can bus fault as well as a failure of the unit as well.

With MB Star eg. SDconnect C4, you can diagnose the canbus system for errors, sometimes the distribution box under the passenger foot well needs replacing or resetting to allow the canbus system to send information around the vehicle again.

Where can I find info on the “star” diagnostic kit?? I recommend www.fobdii.com, its MB SDconnect C4, I bought it one year ago, and working perfectly except the installation error when I got it. Then, I did check the can-bus for corroded/loose connections. The thing is when I unplug the can bus the key in the ign does not turn at all, but if I unplug the ecu I get exactly the same symptoms, which may point towards the ecu. So, the senior technician is more sure A session on MB Star is recommended

2) Another one optional possibility: The senior technician advised possibly dead control unit. The fan going full chat is a fail safe to stop the engine over heating. I recommend going to a reputable Merc specialist and get some proper diagnosis. Then, I put a multi-meter on the ecu plugs, it was reading just under 6v with ign on so I am guessing the ecu is receiving power, which might rule out the sam unit. I am going to drive to ecu doctor in Plymouth near me with the unit and get them to test it for £35 which is worth it to rule it out.

Finally, the problem solved with the aid of MB Star SDconnect Just to give an update in case someone else is going through the same symptoms. It was a bad ECU after I diagnose with MB SDconnect C4!, I sent the ECU off to ecu doctor, they copied the data over to a good unit, got it back plugged it in, ignition on, glow plug light came on CAR STARTED!. Took it for a drive: flawless.

MB Star SDconnect is great to have as an aid(I will get it soon) but if you an idiot like my local merc indie happens to be then it becomes useless. 10+ problems I have sorted on a modern merc without it.

How to enable MB SD Connect C4 WIFI connection

Many Mercedes Benz MB Star diagnostic SD Connect C4  system holders does not know how to set up/use the WIFI connection. Here obdii365.com engineers have made a step-by-step guide on how to connect MB SD C4 by LAN and WLAN.

Before we start, please make sure that: 1, The LAN driver and WLAN driver of your computer was installed well. 2, The LAN of MB Star C4 is work properly. (Use OBD cable to connect MB Star C4 and start it. After start SDConnect C4 MUX can hear 3 beeps and the red LED will flash 3 times. Press ! 3-4 times can see WLAN IP address), as shown below:

After confirmation we can start connect. 1. First, use green cable to connect MB SD C4 multiplexer and the computer, then use OBD cable connect MUX with the car or 12V power. Set the LAN IP as 172.29.127.119. As shown below:

After modifying IP, you can see the lower right corner of the computer screen # 21 becomes unlocked state. That means you have already connect the mux to the computer by LAN cable.

2. Next use WLAN connect the computer and MB SD Connect C4. First, we need add road24h in WIRELESS NETWORK CONNECTION of the computer, the password is 26 * a. Photo as below.

After setting up, then set the IP of WIRELESS into 192.168.2.119, as shown below: Here should be noted that: the IP of computer WIRELESS must be different with the C4 MUX.

After setting the IP of WIRELESS, click # 21 (the lower right corner of the computer) into SDCONNECT TOOLKIT.

Then set the MUX as shown below, the password is 26 * a (26 digits)

After setup unplug the LAN cable, you can see a RADIO icon on the small screen of MB Star C4. This icon means the WLAN of MUX is working now.

The check all WIRELESS connection, you can see a road24h WIFI. Double click to connect, the password is 26 * a, after connection then restart C4 mux.

Here need to noted that: sometimes can not to see road24h, please try to restart the computer and SD C4 MUX. If still can not find road24h, please connect the LAN cable and do the above steps again.

How to setup MB SD Connect C4 Xentry for Mercedes BUS diagnosis

I want to diagnose a Mercedes-Benz BUS using Xentry 2017.12 but the program displays “License is incorrect”. Luckily, got help from DieTrih. Copy the solution and result for sharing. Hopefully, it helps others also.

cars and trucks working ok, so i bet it’s working Xenry; but cannot do buses or other heavy equipment MB SD Connect C4 .I only have this problem with Buses –>”licence incorrect”.

in Xentry this Licence Error Message (sorry, screenshot is in German; i have translated it into English).

with DAS.Standalone for Xentry.OpenShell.XDOS and DAS.Xentry (2017.12) DAS v7.7.0.1 Use it with old keys for DAS. MB Bus and Bharatbenz are working. Included: das32r2.exe (Usual file), das32r2_sl.exe (Standalone), lic.sli (Original file if needed). Don`t look on the file size, just packed executable.
