SHORT FIN MAKO🦈 Pelagic sharks often migrate long distances, but they may also occur close to shore, making it difficult to classify their behaviour between oceanic nomad to coastal resident. A 2019 study set out to track the habitat use and mobility of shortfin mako sharks (Isurus oxyrinchus) in the New Zealand region and found that the sharks residency periods sometimes lasted for several months (Malcom 2018).
