Definitely my favorite sign from San Diego's Women's March. #as #sandiego #feminism #sandiegowomensmarch #sdwomensmarch #womensmarch (at San Diego Civic Center,)
With B and the gang last weekend at #sdwomensmarch #TBT (at San Diego County Administration Center)
Yesterday was an amazing day marching alongside with thousands of beautiful strong women. I can’t wait till next year where I will be march again but hopefully I will be living in CT and be able to march in NYC
Awesome Womens March signs. Cool to see you and your sister supporting. Though having an Angela Davis quote on your mom's sign when she's white is just more culture appropriation. Remember that 53% of white women in America voted for Trump? If a black woman wrote that on her sign, she'd be made fun of. But since your mom had it - then its okay. Not cool. Just food for thought.
You see. I spent hours today, agonizing a response to you. I asked friends. I asked family. I asked myself. I had nine paragraphs written. NINE. Filled with every reason why you were wrong. And admittedly, part of me still wants to yell and to scream. But You, empty bespeckled grey face, I won’t. Instead, I’m gonna drop some facts on you.
First - My mother is NOT a “cultural appropriating white woman.” She is proudly biracial and proudly a member of the Duwamish Tribe in the Pacific Northwest. Just because she doesn’t fit your stereotypical Native American imagery, doesn’t make it not true. Yes her skin is paler than mine and I’m WHITE by Native standards, but she is still Native.
Second - if you paid attention AT ALL to my Tumblr, you’ll see that my mother is a proud, proud, PROUD Nasty Woman. So get the fuck out of here with your Cheeto Jesus supporting comparisons.
Thirdly - My mother does and will forever recognize and utilize her privilege to help those with none. She understands that because she is perceived as white, that she has a lot of privilege that even her own daughters won’t get. And she mother fucking hates it. Every day, every goddamn day, she is out there trying her goddamn best to make sure others have and will have just as much privilege as she. That Angela Davis quote is her mantra, because FUCK, she is going to change shit even if its by herself and By God, she refuses to be lumped in with those asshole “white feminist/anti POC/anti WOC” bullshitters.
Finally, I get that you might be approaching this from an experience with our white sisters who are only feminist when they feel it will benefit them. Or you might have felt like my mom was one of those people. And for that, I am sorry that you’ve had that negative experience. But DO NOT attack someone just because you have little to no context to their situation. It just makes you look stupid.
And with this, I end - You can fuck off to the ninth level of Hell.
I dare you to come off anon. I dare you to say this shit to my face. Because you will absolutely catch these hands. Leave my mother out of your goddamn political tirade, you worthless piece of shit.
