The Claws of The Cat #3
(Feline Feminist and the Aliens Under the Sea)
Synopsis
The third installment of the Claws of the Cat opens with our hero being chased by a cabin cruiser on Lake Michigan. She hits some rocks and gets caught up in a bad guy net. We find out that since we last saw her, Greer has begun a whirlwind romance with Dr. Tumolo’s lawyer, who happens to be the kind of rich white guy who’s really into scuba diving and has his own boat. She falls in love with the sport because her power of women’s intuition gives her echolocation apparently, and she’s hardcore into it. She steal his boat keys and goes on the nighttime boat ride that ends with her in the net from earlier. Turns out she’s been caught by the Marvel version of Sea Lab (again, under Lake Michigan). After some arguing, the Sea Lab peeps determine she isn’t trying to spy on them, and she learns that they are a military operation (or are they?). They get attacked by Commander Kraken who wants to use their underlake dome as a hide-out. Greer kicks the Commander’s ass with the help of the Sea Lab folks, and once the pirates are defeated and escape in their giant squid Nautilus. The Sea Lab peeps let Greer leave, and as she’s speeding away, we find out the Sea Lab people were actually werewolf aliens! They burst out of Lake Michigan and fly away. The. Fucking. End.
MsCaptainWinchester’s 3 Thoughts
If I’d known echolocation was one of my superpowers as a woman, I would have used that a long time ago.
Considering that swimmers are warned about the toxicity levels of Lake Michigan at least once a summer now, I can’t imagine scuba diving there before the EPA existed would be any more pleasant. Or safe. If anything, the pollution levels can’t have made visibility great.
I could not have screamed louder when I saw the last panel of this comic and found out the Sea Lab people were werewolf aliens. I lost my damn mind. It was AMAZING.

Lake Michigan is a fresh water lake. Nothing pisses me off more as a Midwesterner than coastal writers who make the Great Lakes salt water.
Why does Kraken have a garden cultivator rake for a hand? I would have just gone with a classic hook personally.
I think the submarine dog aliens have been underused in Marvel continuity.
