"Something in her snapped, and before she could second-guess it, she stepped into his space, close enough to feel the heat of his breath. Her hand shot out, seizing the knot of his tie, and yanked it brutally tight, straightening it against his immaculate collar.
His breath caught — the barest flicker — and his eyes widened, dark irises gleaming. The faintest flush rose along the sharp line of his throat. Satisfaction surged through her.
Who was letting who, now?
“There,” she hissed. “Now it sits properly. Nice and tight. May it strangle you the way your suffocating control strangles everyone else.”
Choke on it, you arrogant prick."
