Years ago, as I was starting out in the realm of fatherhood, I tried to find things to keep my bouncing baby 3-year-old girl busy. Enter The Disney Channel. I never said I was a wise father, but it worked nonetheless. She soaked it up. Mostly in re-runs, which is what Disney is great at, with every Zack and Cody, Lilo and Stitch, and don't get me started on Hannah Montana she absorbed. But one day she came across a show of a red-headed girl, that was like James Bond but spoke in the kid's language. She was hip, funny, had a corny/nerdy best friend, and more importantly, she was proving that a girl can save the world just as well as any boy. Her name was Kim Possible. And now she is coming back live-action style to The Disney Channel.
Last week as part of the big reveal, Christy Carlson Romano, who voiced the cheerleader-turned-superhero, and Will Friedle, who played her sidekick-turned-love interest Ron Stoppable, attempt to re-audition for their roles in the movie, catchphrases and all. You can enjoy every awkward moment of that event in the video below.
Of course, they’re really there to find out who’s actually starring in the movie: Sadie Stanley, who recently appeared on Nickelodeon’s Game Shakers, will play Kim, and Sean Giambrone, who plays Adam on ABC’s The Goldbergs (One of the best shows on TV right now in my humble opinion), is playing Ron.
The original animated series aired in June 2002-Sept 2007, and now over 10 years later the live action movie will hit the air sometime in 2019.
I don't know much about Sadie Stanley, but if you have ever watched The Goldbergs, then you know that Sean Giambrone is the perfect Ron Stoppable. So I have high hope that this will actually be a pretty fun TV movie.
What are your thoughts on the new Kim and Ron?
