Kai was unusually quiet and — shockingly — inside the library. Not that he was reading anything. He had been drawing on his sketchbook before wondering how the dragon he had just created would look like a tattoo... then, he was testing it, by drawing it on the inner side of his arm “Want one too?” he asked when he felt eyes on him. “I accept aspirins as payment today”.

Kai was in the corner of the empty ballroom. Smoking weed. Not having his best neither his worst day ever; just a strange, unusual one, and trying to distract himself from it by focusing on his small paintwork. He had the tip of his fingers soaked, each with a different color— he had forgotten his brushes, and used his bared skin to replace it— when he heard steps. Apparently, he wasn’t the only one looking for a quiet space. He had even managed to get a small frame, small paint recipients... “what the hell are you doing here?” Kai asked, before looking up.

Kai had no words to describe how weird the experience in that stupid hotel had been— children laughing in the corridors. Stories of missing or misplaced objects. Something was up in that place, for sure; a very good prankster or some very, very dead people... but, well, he did his best to ignore that shit and get something good out of it. For example, he managed to find another guest that had been selling two kites. That’s why he was now smoking in the games’ deck, flying the damn kite. He was all good when a sudden change of wind got the kite to fly to the other direction “fuck, get out of the way!” he said, as the line almost hit someone’s head. And, of course, he laughed over it.
You see, Kai had done lots of illegal stuff during his lifetime and got arrested once or twice as a result. But surprisingly, he hadn’t done a thing this time— he just watched as a rushed guy bumped into him and disappeared in an alley. A guy with the same jacket color as him. Fuck. He didn’t even know if someone would try to blame him for whatever had happened, but, as someone was yelling “thief!” from far away, Kai didn’t wish to stay long enough to find out. He ran. Two blocks away, heavy breath, he found a familiar face. “Please, pretend we are talking. Nice weather, right?”

"Please, tell me you brought us a drink” he said, holding his cigarette between his lips. He didn’t know who was approaching, but he totally needed to get inebriated to interact with anyone. “Not feeling like doing anything today”
