❝ I’m not heartless, whatever some people think- quite the contrary. ❞
Her heart stops for a moment - eyes focusing, narrowing in on the beautiful Lady Captain. Shireen Baratheon, a woman after her own heart. Beth had held all the love in the world for the woman since they had come to meet, and while in Dragonstone, the woman had been one of the very few friendly faces. The idea that anyone could have any form of a negative thought about Shireen baffled her - but she supposed anyone thought that about the people they cared about : ( her mind jolts to Sansa, a wonderful girl she had grown with - stronger than any man she had ever met, and three times compassionate. Her mind goes to Jeyne and how she runs all over these camps giving her own energy to help the soldiers, the sick, the injured, to console the dying, to Arya who only became a product of what the world had given her: a strong warrior in the making, someone capable of protecting the people around her. Perhaps people were afraid of strong, brave, compassionate women ) it was strange to believe that someone you held on a higher pedestal than everyone else could have a negative thing about them. But people did not see everything the same, the world would be oh so dull if they did.
"I do not believe you to be heartless." Her words are quiet, and her smile gentle as she speaks. "I believe someone told you that because they are afraid of strong, independent, powerful women. I believe someone said that because they were jealous, or because they hold a grudge. I don't believe it to be true. I think you have one of the biggest hearts marching in this war, My Lady."
