“i  cannot  believe  that  even  happened.”  she  sighed,  touching  her  hand  to  her  cheek  before  she  pushed  her  hair  behind  her  ears.  “tough  luck,  innit?”  she  was  using  her  laptop  to  peek  at  her  bank  account  balance.  she’d  misplaced  her  cellphone.  she  had  no  idea  where  it  was,  and  find  my  iphone  wasn’t  helping  her  one  but.  “i  mean  ---  i  have  everything  backed  up  to  the  cloud  but  i’m  going  to  have  to  spend  money  to  get  myself  a  new  phone.”  she  sighed.  she  could  but  ...  she  would  set  herself  back  in  her  savings  and  it  was  already  difficult  managing  what  she  had  now.  “maybe  i’m  overreacting  and  i  just  need  to  retrace  my  steps,  yeah?”

There was something soothing about music shops. Second only to bookstores, the tall male felt at ease there. It was the same feeling he used to get stepping onto the freshly-cut grass of the football field in anticipation of a match. Instead of the cheers of the crowd and the laughter of his peers, there was the crooning vocals of up-and-coming artists or fresh musicians who had their demons played in indie stores in hopes of striking gold with a label. Currently, he was between the aisles, unsure of which section he was in specifically. It didn’t matter either, he was here to hear their playlist. It changed up daily, always consisting of little-known, incredible music. The current song made his insides feel like they were twisting in the most incredible way, like winter was scraping its teeth against his ribs. With a contented sigh, he spoke, loud enough for anyone near him to hear him, “What’s this song? It’s quite good.”

     it feels like the first time she’s stepped outside of her flat in weeks when it’s really only been a few days at the most. perhaps the feeling has to do with the changes to the world outside -- fallen trees, damaged buildings, and scattered debris making the once familiar streets seem foreign and otherworldly. as she strolled past the wreckage, pip can’t help but let out a weighty sigh -- as though all of the harm and destruction somehow fell upon her slim shoulders. on top of it all, hadley had been stranded at uni, meaning she’d waited out the storm on her own. therefore, it’s really no surprise that at the first sign of human company, she’s drifting across the puddle laden street to offer a mumbled greeting. “sad, innit?” she gestures to the branches at their feet. “i hope the storm didn’t treat you too poorly?”

to see a genuine smile on will was a rare and fragile sight. but even when smiling will had a way of being somehow completely unreadable. nonetheless, he emits something effervescent, a glowing ball of subtle light even in moments of seeming completely unable to interpret. " i think i've grown tired of people comparing people to things in the sky and things in the ground. " will chimes in with a breathy laugh, his hands gesturing vaguely before he continues. " you know what i mean, right ? so many writing pieces and poems i read lately have something to do with that. people compare their lovers to stars, planets, the sun, the moon, and clouds. or it's flowers, trees, leaves, and grass. i see it all the time. it makes me wonder whatever happened in the middle to make people focus on just way up or way down. am i making any sense ? " the boy laughs again, hues of honey brown squinting, his expression remaining content but wandering. " i sound bloody mental, don't i ? "

Kelsey had woken up slightly hungover from the night before, she had worked then stayed afterwards to drink. She wasn’t even sure what time she had gotten home at but she was pretty sure the sun had been coming up. All she need now was a large cup of coffee and something to eat, however when she opened her fridge it was empty. It was becoming a more regular thing since her moms new boyfriend had decided this was his new crash pad. She rolled her eyes slamming the fridge closed. She didn’t really feel like getting ready or leaving the house but she figured it was better then hanging around here all day. After Kelsey was dressed she headed straight to the nearest coffee shop with her head phones plugged in and drowning out the world around her.

She had carried her coffee and muffin through the place was pretty busy but she managed to grab a table for two just as a couple left. After playing a very intense round of candy crush, which she seriously needed to stop playing, she saw someone doing the same walk-through the place that she had done not long ago, but she wasn’t sure they were going to get quite as lucky as her. She decided to pull her head phones out, “Hey if you can’t find a spot I might be willing to share my table.”

The boy was running on four hours of sleep and eight cups of coffee, holding his ninth of the day as he made his way to the station. He was so distracted turning the page of Extragalactic Astronomy and Cosmology that he winded up walking smack into someone else, sending coffee cup no.9 splashing all over the front of his own shirt, and his papers. Mouth falling open in horror, he stepped back. “Oh fuck me,” He said, watching the coffee run down his front and abruptly dropping his book and papers in order to pull the burning fabric of his shirt off his skin. Not bothering to look up at the other person’s face, he cast a glance towards their shirt to confirm it wasn’t soaked, too, before looking back down at himself. 

Horror prickled the nape of his neck, and he swallowed thickly. “Sorry,” He mumbled, not sounding very sorry after all as he crouched down to retrieve his things with a sour expression. Technically, it had been half his fault, but the lack of sleep made him feel vindicated. He couldn’t show up in a shirt that was now more coffee than cotton. Maybe he could buy one? He cringed at the thought. That was so not a viable option if his bank balance had anything to say about it.
