I have a #lovehaterelationship with this #hypertrophy block that I'm in. One reason I love it is a ton of new exercises are being introduced to my weekly repertoire like these #seatedstrictpress (it's only 70lbs on the bar because I have a #poverty upperbody). . Don't get me wrong, I hateses them precious, but I had one of those #epiphany moments where I felt this correlated with what I've recently been a stickler about to my clients. Your arms shouldn't affect your upper body; when you go to use a rein aid this should not cause you to tip forward, fall back, draw your shoulders to your ears - whatever! . The SSP had me engaging my core and pushing down through my seat bones on the bench for stabilization while my arms were free to push that measly weight up over my head. My weight didn't ride up to my shoulders (leave the saddle), nor did my shoulder to hip angle change (staying in ear, shoulder and hip alignment). It was #wickedcool to feel and completely visualize how this translates to #dressage !
