Time and possible side-effects

It's february when he realizes

all this could be temporary;

dives into that notion

and swims in it;

becomesa grain of sand

in the hourglass and

fights to breathe in the crush of

seconds trickling by and piling

one on top of the other.

It's February,

and the trees are still naked and shivering

with each gust of cold,

the first hints of flowers

get smothered on frost by morning.
