for the dragonborn asks: 1, 2, 11, 12, 16, 19, and 20!
1. What is their background and backstory, summarised into a paragraph?
severine courtemanche is the daughter of a breton noblewoman and a disgraced thalmor agent, raised in rural high rock with the occasional vacation to her favorite aunt in the summerset isles. a magical prodigy raised more as an asset than a child, severine’s adept in the art of conversation, but she’s usually too sulky and impulsive to put it to good use. as she got older she turned to research, focusing on conjuration and its historical use, and left high rock ostensibly to go research the undead in skyrim - she mostly just wanted to finally get out from stifling high society and away from her parents. she then proceeds to become a vampire while searching for a rare book. It’s Fine. she’s young, dumb, a little bit shallow, and her heart is in the right place, though her methods leave something to be desired.
2. What “class” do they follow (i.e. warrior, archer, mage, thief, etc.)?
100% mage, although a stealthy one. she focuses on conjuration & illusion predominantly, is good at sneaking, and has a backup dagger in case of emergencies. her main tactic is summoning two dremora lords while sneaking, casting invisibility, and letting the dremora do all the work for her. she’s ridiculous.
11. If they had a pet or magical familiar as in ESO (excluding the dogs in Skyrim) what creature would it be?
a small bird or maybe a ferret. she also really would like to adopt one of the death hounds as a proper pet, not just a follower. undead dogs need love too.
12. Which standing stone have they used for the longest and why?
she uses the lady for the longest, after switching out of the mage stone. having the faster stamina regen is good as a vampire, and perhaps she aspires to be as kind and tolerant as the Lady.
16. Where did they choose to live and what drew them there? Does it really feel like home?
severine’s main home is in solitude, which she chose because she thinks it’s the prettiest place in skyrim, and part of her research involves studying the magic and methods of potema septim. she spends a while posted up in the winking skeever before she can actually afford to by proudspire manor, but once she gets it fully outfitted, with wives and daughters and a fully stocked alchemy lab, it definitely starts feeling like home. it feels more like home than any other place she’s been, except for maybe her dinky room in the college of winterhold. she also has a house exclusively for magical experiments and for her library on the edge of the morthal swamps.
19. Which NPC have they killed and regretted it?
malyn varen, from the black star quest. obviously, he’d gone too far for anything else to be done, but she felt awful killing a man who, in her eyes, (before all the murder) hadn’t done anything wrong, and was simply a victim of circumstance and daedra.
20. Which NPC have they killed and absolutely NOT regretted it (excluding the major villains)?
like everyone else and their mother, séverine killed heimskr (rather impulsively) in whiterun. stop disturbing the peace, sir. oh, and lemkil, so she could adopt his daughter. not a second thought about that.
happy birthday rob!!!🍰🎉💖
THANKS LUNE!!!!!!!! MWAH 🌙🦇
4, 8, 30, 36 for the dnd asks!
8. What is the most memorable natural 20 you’ve ever experienced?
literally the very last roll of dragonhuggers was osa getting a nat 20 and doing 92 damage against tiamat which killed her
30. Homebrew or prewritten?
i like both! ive run more prewritten stuff tho
seccunda replied to your post: “is snufkin having a tail just a fanart thing or does he have one in...”:
he isnt really drawn with one in the books/comics, but some members of his family often have tails so ppl like to draw him with one! the paws are canon tho
ahh ok! thank you!
for farbauti: 19 and 20, and for herder: 12 and 23!
DANK u lune
19: What is more likely a thought to you - that this world is wrong or that you are wrong?
FARBAUTI: Others are usually wrong.
20: Are there people in this world who, no matter how much time and penitence is given, should never be forgiven?
FARBAUTI: Yes. You take time, and you say you are sorry, but it does not matter until you take action. No more questions.
12: If someone else stole something and you stole it back is that a good deed, a bad deed or one of equal worth? Are you better than the original thief?
HERDER: Am I returning it to the owner? Is it mine to begin with? There are so many questions to follow yours! I would say it depends on the object- and who it belongs to! And- Ah! What if it was originally the thief’s? I think it is a good deed, to return things to their rightful place, but there are just too many other questions to make this one I can answer!
And- you know, I don’t get the need to steal things anyway. If you want something, why not ask for it? Even pose a challenge for it? Though, if I could wrestle for all the things I wanted... It makes sense it doesn’t work that way!
23: Could you ever become your own hero? Is that a role you can fulfill or is it something you look to others for?
HERDER: ...
...
I think it is a good thing to see inspiration in the ones around you. What you like, what you want to be. Helps when they can’t find it themselves!
